This review is from: Winds of Destiny (Paperback)
The continuing story of the Tate Family in Tatesville, Texas. This novel is about Becky, the halfbreed daughter of Sarah Peters and stepdaughter of Hunter. The trouble starts when Hunter fences off the family ranch with barbwire and the Texas Rangers are called in. Enter our hero, one range war one ranger.

Becky is not happy with her life and is bothered with halfbreed sneers from cowboys in town and on the ranch and the fact that she wants to teach all of the negro children to read etc. Not a popular idea in 1800 post Civil War Texas.

I found the story to be well done and acurate to the historical period.
