Thrilling Russian Saga,
By Linda L. Reid "author of Touch of Magenta" (California Wine Country) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Winds Over Manchuria (Paperback)
Alla Crone writes with passion, and well she should, having experienced herself the beauty of Russia as a child, along with the terrors of the night. Winds Over Manchuria keeps you on the edge of drama, often plunging you into fear and darkness, then into a love seething with intensity. The settings are authentic and described with care, allowing the drama to resonate even more powerfully. You follow the life of Nadya, a woman torn between two worlds, one of luxury with her aristocratic lover, the other full of struggle and revolution. The story moves from Russia to Siberia to Manchuria and finally to Shanghia as Nadya tries to live in her war-torn world. With every location, Crone shows a new set of cultural rules and political intrigues. Awful and lovely things happen, always a surprise...always interesting and compelling. With love and wit, the protagonist fights for a life she can believe in, a country to keep her safe and someone to love. Winds of Manchuria is skillfully written and the characters will continue live in your mind long after you have said goodbye. By Linda Loveland Reid, author of Touch of Magenta
