A Gem,
This review is from: The Winds of Time (Mass Market Paperback)
"Winds of Time" is a great little Sci-Fi book written by Chad Oliver. Yes, it is a bit dated (1950's) but it holds up well. I actually care about the characters. Oliver also wrote one of my favorite books "Mists of Dawn". If you can get your hands on a copy, grab it and read it. Oliver had a magic about him. He really wrote most of these books for young adults or teenagers but they are interesting for any fan of good sci-fi. I recently reread Winds and found that the magic was still there after some 40 years.

Some aliens have been scouting for other spacefaring civilizations, but they've only run across the remains of spacefaring civilizations that have exterminated themselves. They get stranded on Earth in prehistoric times and put themselves into hibernation until they think humans are likely to have the technology for spaceship repairs. A little slow, but well written.I also enjoyed Oliver's "Shadows in the Sun." |
