5.0 out of 5 stars WINDSURFING
Excellent book for beginners and intermediate windsurfers. Lots of colorful pictures, Techniques explained in plain English. The author took his time to explain these in detail. Long and short boards, also more advanced techniques are discussed.
If you are just getting started, this is a great book for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but...
This book provides a good overview of windsurfing but isn't a good guide for learning how to windsurf. The illustrations of the windsurfing maneuvers aren't clear and the text descriptions that accompany them are labored. If you're interested in an overview of the sport, equipment, etc. this is a good book. If you're looking for a book to teach you how to windsurf,...

I just started windsurfing this year. I have this book, and the book by Ken Winner. I'd recommed this hands down. It is up-to-date, covering the new short & wide boards; it is extremely helpful, with a lot of detailed text and photographs; and it is beautifully done. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great windsurfing manual, January 5, 2004
By
Andrey Burya (Russia, Moscow) - See all my reviews
Great windsurfing manual for beginners and intermediates.
Windsurfing fundamentals (up-hauling, self-rescue, correct stance, non-planning tack and jibe, steering ...) are explained very well with lots of text, pictures and photos. Solutions for common problems and useful tips accompany each subject.
Advanced techniques (planning, harness use, beach starting, straps, water starting, planning jibe) are explained as well but in less detail and with more photos than text.
If you want a comprehensive manual for long and short board base skills - this book is an excellent choice. More advanced subjects such as freestyle tricks, fine equipment tuning, jibing tips are not discussed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Instruction & Complete Intro To Windsurfing, August 26, 2005
By
I took one windsurfing lesson and then picked up this book. It was perfect. I have advanced very far simply be getting on the water and constantly reffering back to Mr. Bornhoft's detailed instruction. No other lessons have been necessary so far. The author provides excellent photos and diagrams to illustrate the moves and his descriptions are easy to follow and helpfull. I also found the author's coverage of equipment to be very usefull. If you want a solid intro to windsurfing, you want this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The true nuts and bolts of TODAYS windsurfing., July 8, 2005
I've reviewed DVDs, books and magazines as I move into the windsurfing arena and none of the materials compare with the solid basic information provided in Mr. Burnholt's book.

Hats off to the guy who wrote this.
This book serves as an excellent handbook/training manual for beginners all the way to the advanced sailor.

I consider myself to be a begginer-intermediate windsurfer - planing in the harness, starting to get into the footstraps, and some success with water starts. I wanted help with these areas as well information to get me started with planing gybes and this book covers all these in detail. Considering that there aren't a whole lotta good windsurfing books or instructional DVDs out there, I'd say this book is quite a steal for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginers - intermediate, March 18, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is easy to read and has excellent pictures (most taken by the author), also has illustrations that support the explained techniques. It covers from the basics: choosing the right board and rig, carrying the equipment, uphauling and controlling the rig; to intermediate - advanced techniques: jibbing, beach-start, planning, harnessing.

I enjoyed reading this book , and it has helped me a lot to improve my windsurfing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference, August 7, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book has helped me with my windsurfing technique(or the lack there'of before I bought this book). I think that it is probably the next best thing next to a lesson, or ten. I would recommend it to anyone with a desire to windsurf, it helped me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book is perfect for beginners to advanced, September 25, 2005
This book covers all bases sections in the windsurfing, including how to choose an equipment, first steps, what you have to eat and tehnics for advanced riders as water start, jibe curve and etc.

I was very impressed of the fact that in every chapter there is a mistake review, also very useful pictures showing a particular movements are available.

In general the book is perfect beginners to advanced, but not experts.
