5.0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Dummies, July 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I actually consider myself pretty knowledgeable about wine (certainly not a dummy), but I was suprised at how much I learned from this book! This is a very comprehensive book that cleared up many of my misconceptions about wine. One of the big and simple things I learned -

I've been storing and serving my wine too cold - and accordingly missing a lot of complexity and flavor.

The book has a detailed overview of the European wine regions. I am a California wine fan, and knew little about French and Italian regions. Now I can go to the wine shop with some confidence and expand my wine horizons. The book also uses very easy to navigate icons that highlight various aspects of the wine under discussion.

The book covers everything about wine - from how it is grown, how to pair it with food, how to store it, to how to buy it in a restaurant. It is written in an unpretentous and funny style that is entertaining to read. It is also helpful in instructing how to order wine in a restaurant - which can sometimes be daunting, Overall a great book that taught me a lot!

One recommendation. I bought the Kindle edition - and wish I had bought the actual book, as it becomes more of a reference book and it would be easier to access in paper.

My wife loves this book. It was for her anniversary. It is very simple to follow but makes you feel like a wine professional. The delivery was speedy and the book was in great shape. I definitely recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Newbie Wine I am, January 8, 2010

This review is from: Wine All-in-One For Dummies (Paperback)
I am so clueless about wines and only get simple store brands of under $10. I wanted to get in touch with the wine world and this book was a simple help but not much. I didnt care for anything past the third chapter as I am so new. I learned a few tips but not that much.
