5.0 out of 5 stars great for keeping labels, December 15, 2009

This review is from: Wine Chronicles: Writing Your Own Fine Wine Book (Hardcover)
This book has plenty of space for saving labels and extra pages for making notes. There are sections with descriptions of various types of wine that are nice for someone just learning about wine. The book is too large to carry with you on tastings, but is great for keeping at home. I keep my tasting sheets with my notes, then transfer them to this book when I get home. Great gift for a wine lover.

This review is from: Wine Chronicles: Writing Your Own Fine Wine Book (Hardcover)
In this terrific book, Greg Moore not only shatters lots of wine myths (and exposes the mass-marketed wine industry for what it is), he also offers helpful tips for learning how to appreciate GENUINE wine. No pretense, geekiness, arrogance, snobbery, or hype -- just factual knowledge, intelligently presented and beautifully designed. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in wine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Understated Subversive Wine Book!, December 6, 2002

This review is from: Wine Chronicles: Writing Your Own Fine Wine Book (Hardcover)
So, you look at this little book thinking, "Gee, that's a 'nice' little gift for thw wine geek in the family..." - then you start reading the author's take on the world o' wine.

If this ever falls into Jess Jackson's or or Gina Gallo's hands, you can bet that the California wine industry "powers that be" will be lobbying for changes in the label law. This book'll give you the straight dope on how wine is made, and marketed to the American consumer.

Who'da thunk it?
