I saw an ad for these guys performing live in my town. I originally judged the name to be some stupid hip hop project (Yes, I'm closeminded enough to despise rap, ok?) but a note below said "Featuring members of Unsane and Kiss It Goodbye." For anyone who knows good metal/hardcore, you should know who both of these bands are. Top notch, dude. I bought a ticket based upon that alone.
To make a story short, the band blew me away, despite a lame turnout at the show. Their music is best described as a very energetic and aggressive mix of hardcore, metal, punk, and good old fashioned rock n roll. The band members are all top notch, with tons of experience under their belts. Guitarist Cooper (Kiss It Goodbye) can riff and solo quite well, as well as playing some incredibly catchy leads. Rythym guitarist Joel backs him up perfectly with a suitably heavy crunch that is lacking in aggressive music these days. The real highlight for me is the drums and bass on this album. Bassist Dave Curran (Unsane) is simply put one of the better bassists I've ever heard (For proof of this, check out Unsane's Scattered, Smothered, and Covered or Occupational Hazard). His bass is both heavy but also backs the music with a catchy groove that keeps you moving. Believe me, you will rock out to the sounds because of it--I couldn't keep my head still at the show for long. Drummer Jim is also well-learned, pushing the songs along with a fast, steady beat that (like Curran's bass) is both brutal and catchy.
In short, if you dig hardcore, punk, metal, or a fusion of any above items, check this album out. It's well worth your time. Also check out: Unsane, Kiss It Goodbye, Deadguy, Avenged Sevenfold, The Kill Van Kull (JJ and Cooper's other band, who are also great).
