This opener never worked properly. It was rough to use, often broke the corks halfway in the bottle - or didn't remove them at all. Then it broke entirely. I upgraded this review a notch because the company finally stepped in and offered a replacement. I've had 2 other portable units of theirs break as well, but they replaced those as well. Good service, but they need to work on a more durable opener design.

Legacy Wine opener was purchased as a gift for my husband's May 31st birthday - tonight, June 23, 2008 - less than one month later - it broke opening a bottle of wine. It does not have sufficient strength to open wine bottles. Approximately only a dozen bottles were opened before failure. Poor internal workmanship. I previously owned one of these from The Wine Enthusiast that worked for over 12 years. Very unhappy with this now broken and useless product!

This was the best purchase so far. The unit is simple just remember to have the handle loaded all the wasy back before you use it. My wife has serious carpol tunnel in her hands . This product made the wine opening at this years Christmas and New years gathering so simple. I highly recomend with the stand.
