5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, noticeable noise November 14, 2010

We've had this cooler for about two years now and it has performed wonderfully.

It does produce a noticeable noise when running, so I don't think it's suitable for use in a common area. At first we had it near our entertainment area, but the noise it made while running became annoying during cards, conversation or while watching TV. It does not accommodate larger bottles, so some of the taller bottles will have to find a home elsewhere.

UPDATE 7/20/13: We've now had this for almost 5 years and it's starting to show its age. Condensation forms on the bottom tray and has to be wiped out on a regular basis - otherwise water will come out with the bottom bottles when extracted. It doesn't seem to be able to maintain temperature below 58 degrees at an ambient of 75. I've done all the maintenance I can like cleaning the heat exchanger fins. At an average cost of around $35/yr I don't think I'll be buying another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, functional, efficient October 7, 2011

We've had this running for a couple of months now. Runs like a champ. Silent, cools to the target temp quickly, light is actually bright enough to be useful. As noted in the description, larger-diameter bottles don't fit easily on the racks. This is our 3rd wine fridge, and that was the case for all 3. My approach with this Wine Enthusiast model was simply to remove the bottom wire shelf (no need for tools -- just pull it out and stow it in a drawer). That allows you to fit four big bottles on the bottom row easily, allowing you to still have a total of up to 12 bottles in the fridge. If you want to cool more than 4 big bottles simultaneously, only then will you need to pull an additional wire shelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Drawback July 20, 2011
Verified Purchase
Just received my Silent 12 Wine Refrigerator and for the most part I am very pleased. Solid, good size, runs quietly and well priced. My only complaint is that not all wine bottles fit into it. Take for example Kendall- Jackson's Chardonnay. The bottom circumference is too big to fit. The only way it can fit in is if you take out the middle shelf. Not a big issue, but something for Wine Enthusiast's engineers to consider. To solve the problem I simple drank that bottle first. Other than that I think the Refrigerator is great. George S - NYC

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, attractive and fits on my kitchen countertop August 10, 2012

I ordered this product even though some reviewers had bad luck. I've owned several wine fridges and have only had bad luck with a really cheap Emerson that I bought at Target. This model was delivered within 4 days of my order. It was packaged well in strong cardboard and styrofoam...no dents or damage at all. We left it in the packaging for several days to let it settle, then carefully removed it from the packaging and placed it on the kitchen counter. It requires 1 inch space on all sides but that's not a problem with standard counter tops. We put it by the fridge so that it doesn't look out of place. I had no difficulty fitting my reds and whites in it using the 3 metal shelves - everything fit with the bottle top facing forward and no labels were damaged.

It looks very nice and runs so quietly I can't hear it at all. It took about 8 hours to reach the temperature I set (54) and it has stayed on that temp without interruption for the 10 days we've had it. (I have not put a secondary thermometer inside to see if it's precisely at this temp, but for my casual wine collecting purpose, it's just fine if it's a couple of degrees above or below.)

I'd recommend. It was a good price and works well as an alternative to a built-in unit.

Update: It's been almost one year since I got this fridge and it still working like a charm. Maintains its temperature and operates silently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Silent Small Wine Cooler July 7, 2011

We have a tiny space and some expensive wines to store. This 12 bottle wine Enthusiast cooler is perfect. We put it in our bedroom and can attest it is absolutely quiet. Attractive, too. Very good product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Luxury of Wine In Your Home November 4, 2011
By Keri
It's amazing to have one of these in my home and I still can't believe it. My own wine cooler. As other reviewers have noted, the "silent" element may be slightly overrated. However, we have this humming quietly in our study and it's not a problem. Get it if you need to add some class!

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks Awesome - Doesn't Hold "Normal" sized bottles June 22, 2013
Verified Purchase
We were so disappointed. The looks on this Wine Fridge were excellent, but I couldn't even put a bottle in the frige without removing the shelf first. Then it scraped the top of the fridge area so much that the label was ruined. There was no way to four bottles per shelf, so 12 was impossible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy January 16, 2013

Perfect size if you have a small area in which to place this unit. Runs very quietly and maintains a steady temperature. Beware however, that chardonnay-size bottles (or larger) do not fit.
