I had never seen anything like these little gems before I was at a friend's house and she whipped out a set that she had picked up on a trip up to Napa with a wine theme on them.

I was so impressed with them that I hopped onto Amazon to see if I could find something like it and I found these gems that I just couldn't resist.

They are platform sandals so they have a thick bottom and because the girls brunch I was hosting for a friend who was coming to town was going to be chalk full of adult beverages, I opted not to use these as coasters per se because after a few glasses of champagne, depth perception can become an issue and I didn't want any spills or hurt feelings should someone get a lap full of merlot, so...

I used these as part of the table decorations and made them into name card holders for the brunch and everyone was really impressed with the 'Day at the Cote d'Azur' theme. They worked very well with everything else that I had on the table that day, the colors were bright and festive and gave me a color scheme to work with.

Later on I used these for a regular backyard BBQ and they worked beautifully then, too, I just used the acrylic stemware for that party and didn't fret about spills.

For a conversation piece alone these were well worth the price so I would say go for it! You never know when you need a pop of color and something unique at a gathering!
