3.0 out of 5 stars gets the job done... when it works.
These label removing sheets are great for most labels. Use the back of a spoon to strongly adhere the sticky sheet to the bottle.
I had about a 70% success rate on various types and styles of labels. As most websites and blogs will say, not all labels are removed with this method. These days, some labels are hard to get off at all. If you are deeply concerned...

Wine Appeal Label Remover Kit - 24 Pack - Wine Label Removers
Of all the label remover brands we've tried the Wine Appeal brand are by far the best. They are reasonably priced, the shipping is cheap and you get them very quickly. This method of removing wine labels is the best because it laminates the wine label and then they're ready to stick into a journal or onto a card. Every wine label is different so it takes a few tries to get the hang of it and to know what types of labels require more work than others. This removal method may not work for ALL labels but we found this product works for MOST. We would recommend this product to everyone.

I had about a 70% success rate on various types and styles of labels. As most websites and blogs will say, not all labels are removed with this method. These days, some labels are hard to get off at all. If you are deeply concerned with preserving a specific label, buyer beware -- this may not be the first and best solution, because once the sticky sheet is on the bottle, it will not come off without at least some of the label on there. You may want to try steam or soak first and then if that doesn't work, let the label dry and give these a whirl. Good luck!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well -- a Great Price., January 3, 2010

We're buying our second set of these -- obviously we feel like they do the job despite their lower price and thinner plastic. If you've used this technology before, then just go ahead and buy...you'll be satisfied and can buy about 5 bottles of Two-buck Chuck with the money that you save.

If you haven't used this technology before, please know that these do not remove all labels. Mrs. Jack has, and I say this with pride that comes from being married a woman who can clean, remove, and sanitize pretty much anything, figured out a pretty good way to do this. YMMV, but here is what she does:

0) Drink the wine. At the same time, make a post-it note and attach it to the bottle, noting the date, what the special event was, etc. She also fills out the page in the book a lot of times -- we've done it as part of the tasting with others, which is fun too.

1) Apply the label remover.

2) Press the adhesive INTO the label by rubbing hard (she no weight-lifter, so don't get carried away) with two different items: 1) a wine cork for the whole thing, and 2) a hard but not sharp edge, such as the side of a plastic ballpoint pen. Make sure that the edges of the label are well bonded to the adhesive.

3) Wait. Not minutes, not hours, and not days, but a couple of weeks.

4) Try to remove it, peeling from the edge. If it does not come off, then repeat steps 2 and 3.

5) If it still does not come off, then it was not meant to be. Some people suggest trying to soak it off first, but anything that soaks off easily comes off with the label remover in our experience.

Some labels are designed to resist water and peeling. That's life.

Open another bottle and repeat starting at step 0. :-)

These are the most inexpensive label removers I've come across. Very fast shipping, too! These work as well or better than other brands I've tried and are very easy to use. I had a high success rate as I've done this several times before and have a knack for it I guess! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't make label removal EASY, but certainly EASIER, January 17, 2009
This review is from: Wine Label Remover Kit - 24 WINE LABEL REMOVERS - Wine Appeal Products
I sort of envisioned plastering these on a wine bottle and ripping the labels cleanly off 10 seconds later. Not so. Removing a label requires some time and concentration even with this tool. We've discovered the best way to do it is to carefully and neatly place a label remover over the label and press it down with your fingers, then fill the bottle with very hot water (that way if you dribble, the label remover protects the label). Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes, and then press the label remover down very hard with the back of a spoon or another utensil, especially along the edge you're going to start from. THEN you can carefully begin to peel it away. Go slowly, and know that you might need to use a fingernail or something to help get a corner started. Once you get going, they come off pretty easily. Trim the remover down, and then the label will stick into a book beautifully. These removers aren't a magic fix, but are the only way to get a label off cleanly and have a shiny, perfectly flat, waterproof finish for your wine journal. The 24-pack will last a long time unless you document every single bottle you drink (as if I want a record of all the $8 wine we drink--ha!). The directions that come with it are very helpful. And the removers are big enough to fit virtually any label.

I've tried 4 other brands and this one is the only one that works. I don't use any others.

These labels are completely inferior to the much thicker and stronger adhesive labels that came with my Wine Journal book. Don't waste your money on this product, buy the more expensive labels if you actually want to remove a wine label intact.

1.0 out of 5 stars Label Destroyer, December 27, 2008
This review is from: Wine Label Remover Kit - 24 WINE LABEL REMOVERS - Wine Appeal Products
I tried these on two different wine labels and both times it destroyed the label. So much for "saving" those memorable labels. The adhesives used for labeling by many wineries these days are too tough for this product. It may work for some of the water based low adhesion type labels but those are, for the most part, a thing of the past. If you truly want to save your labels use the tried and true methods of steam or soaking; these methods work for all labels. Or take a digital photo, which is probably what I'll do going forward.

Wine Appeal should clearly state that this product does not work on all labels and should give direction on how to identify what labels will work and which ones will not.

A double thumbs down for "Wine Appeals Label Remover Kit"

I'm not sure what type of bottles the people who reviewed this product well had success with because only 1 bottle out of 5 I've tried so far worked. In some cases I couldn't even get the sticker to remove a portion of the label. I tried to use a spoon but nothing seems to work. I will never buy this product again but am open to suggestions for a better product.

This review is from: Wine Label Remover Kit - 24 WINE LABEL REMOVERS - Wine Appeal Products
I don't like this product at all. I have only had a partial sucess rate with one bottle. The rest get shredded. Nothing in their direction about using a spoon, but still doesn't seem to do much good.
