Moreover, it is the human touch applied by the author to connect the wines to the people that produce them, that makes the book so appealing.

This book tells the history of each winery, the owners philosophy of winemaking, the varietals and more. Reading it I got a real sense of just how important Livermore wineries are to California wines now and when winemaking began in this region. This book is a treasure.

Thank you Mr Wilmer for writing a book about the Livermore wine region. It is not only a travel book but also a great book to put out on the coffee table! The pictures are great and so are the write-ups. I like reading about the individual wineries because Livermore has so many interesting ones. I know not all are included, but doesn't matter as this is a book about the region as a whole and everyone benefits. I am sure there will be more editions to include new wineries as this is definately a wine region to watch!

This little book is great! Each winery has it's own section with colorful pictures and detailed information about each. The writing is easy to clear, easy, and simple to read. The intoduction is informational about the Livermore wine region, followed in the end by things to do and see in Livermore. Livermore is finally a real tourist attraction! This book is exactly what this wine region and city need. Customers have so many wine regions to choose from and now this book gives them a reason to choose Livermore. The cover is attractive and would make anyone want to visit Livermore any day. However, I must add that some of the reviews for this book are baffling... a one star?? Who gives a travel book a one star?? I don't find these reviews to really be a "review" of the book at all, more of an attack on the author or an association for reasons that no one really cares about. If a business doesn't get into a travel book, let the business owner figure it out or contact the author. Don't use Amazon book review site as a personal platform when it should be used as a place for constructive criticism or praise of books and novels.

I'll be giving this delightful and informative book to my Bay Area wine loving friends for Christmas! I feel like I now have a personal introduction to the winemakers and to the historic Livermore Valley. With this book in hand, we'll have a great time exploring the wineries and sights of the area. A votre santé!

What fun to discover nearby Livermore Valley through the eyes of an oenophile! Before reading the book, I wasn't even sure where the Livermore Valley was; now I can't wait to visit these wineries and meet the owners. I already feel like I know them: generations of wine-making families who steward the land, know their grapes, help their neighbors, and love their work.

I learned a lot about the varietals that grow well in the Livermore Valley's hot, dry days and cool nights, and also appreciate the author's comprehensive approach, which includes plenty of photos and sections on local growers, soils, and sightseeing. (And I've found a great Christmas gift for my friends who live over that way.)

My wife and I just finished reading. Very well done. Anyone who is interested in the gem of Livermore Valley and has never been there, should read this book before heading over. Kudos to the author.

I am so glad that a book about the Livermore wineries has finally been written. This is a wine region that has been sorely under represented when it comes to travel books. Not only does he write about the individual wineries, but also he writes about the history of the region. I understand that not all of the wineries in the region are reviewed, but since this is the first book about this subject, I am not going to ding it for that.

Just bought this book and it is great. It tells the history of the area and about each of the wineries. The pictures are good, but the stories behind the wineries is what makes it such a good read. Anyone interested in wine will enjoy looking through this book to learn more about the Livermore area. If you love good wine and want to have a wonderful day with friends, Livermore is the place. Pick up this book and you can use it to plan out a day of wine tasting followed up with a wonderful meal.
