Book Description

A sophisticated, put together career woman prior to having kids, now Liz Cartwright is lucky to go to the bathroom by herself, much less get out of the house wearing matching shoes and a clean shirt. While she is preoccupied with the sometimes mind-numbing responsibilities of motherhood, her husband is becoming increasingly distant and preoccupied with work, giving Liz the distinct impression that she is losing her husband along with her sense of identity. Armed with a book on spicing up her sex life purchased at a sex toy party and the help of her three best girlfriends, Liz embarks on an all-out attempt to rejuvenate her marriage and find personal fulfillment.

However, things in Liz’s life have a tendency to fail with hilarious results, and her attempts to woo her husband are no exceptions. Despite numerous setbacks—a pantiless tennis court seduction gone awry, a stolen vibrator and an unfortunate incident involving a thong—Liz is determined to reclaim her romantic mojo, until a chance encounter with her first love and a hobby that inadvertently turns into a job opportunity make Liz reevaluate what love inside marriage means and the price she is willing to pay to reclaim her sense of self-worth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wine In My Sippy Cup November 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Loved this book. A perfect example of what mothers go through daily trying to balance our kid's schedules, husband's career, keeping a house, etc. while still wanting an identity for ourselves. I laughed out loud many times, and cried a bit too. This is a quick, but wonderful read! Can't wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Mother's Life February 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Dove has a knack for tapping into the inner thoughts of every mother who has struggled with the pull between herself and her children, between work and home, between domesticity and sensuality. The characters come alive on the page. I've read the ending now three times, and each time, I find myself in tears, identifying with the ever present tug towards home. But before the end, I laugh and blush and thrill and despair, right along with Liz, as she navigates her way through the minefields of life, motherhood, and relationship. I feel as if I know the characters and have lived through the situations Dove creates with her words. I predict this will be the first of many hours of reading pleasure Dove will create. I can't wait for whatever is next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reads like an episode of Modern Family February 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There were time when I laughed so hard, my eyes teared up. Other parts of the book made me tear up because of the poignant message. The entire book reminds me of the antics of Claire and Phil in Modern Family if they had younger children. This is a great book to have people read who do not understand the struggle so many moms face by trying to balance work and family. The balancing act occurring while keeping the "spice" in your marriage. Thoroughly enjoyable read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wine in my Silly Cup May 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Light hearted book that is a good summer read. Lots of typos however that make it hard for me to read other books by this publisher. How hard is it to find someone to proofread.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT book! March 10, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have never written a review of any of the hundreds of books I've read on here, but this book is exceptional. I laughed outlooks on several occasions, & I even read 1 of the scenarios to my husband. Every mom can relate to this book, no matter how many kids she has. It's touching, it's frustrating, it's funny...it's just like real life! My new favorite book.

I found this book to be harmless fun for the most part, and sometimes very funny. The author definitely has an understanding of some of the humorous and frustrating facets of motherhood and marriage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wine Helps May 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Stay-at-home mom of 3, puts career on hold to raise kids & provide the kind of home her husband's expects. Husband becomes complacent, lacking in showing any appreciation. Enter ex-boyfriend with great looks, saying all the right things & proposing an offer that would enable Liz to restart her carrier. A near fling results in serious assessment of the marital situation. I enjoyed the humor in Deborah Dove's story, making me laugh outloud as I pictured some of the well described hilarious episodes in the life of Liz, Scott, their 3 kids & Liz's "support group" of 3 girlfriends.
I would best describe this book as a "summer lite" read. Easy to pick up & put down as time permits. All in all, Wine in my Sippy Cup was a fun, funny story that many stay-at-home moms can relate to.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amusing May 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Light reading about a mom with husband and little kids. Had some funny parts. Some books you remember long after you've read them. This isn't one of them. I remember enjoying it at the time. I believe it was set in Texas, but I'm not sure. Anyway, at least it wasn't New York City. Way too many books set in New York City. I remember liking the local color, whatever it was. I think this was the free book I got on my Kindle when I tried Amazon Prime. "Wife 22" is a similar novel, but better done, I thought.

This book is really, really funny. I didn't feel like the writer was trying to force the situation to make it funny, it was natural & pretty true to life--my life, that is. Read more
