Delicious but looks a little skimpy; not for warm weather
on May 25, 2012
Since there's currently no price listed on this item, it's hard to accurately review it--other reviewers mentioned a $20 price tag (which would be well worthwhile), but I seem to remember it being closer to the $39 (too much in my opinion--but closer to the godiva site price) range when I ordered it on Amazon Vine. I tried to upload a picture of the little box tower in my hand so you can get the scale, but that option's not available. The description is accurate on the dimensions--the whole thing fit and came in a small 8 x 8 x 5-inch box.
Everything was really delicious, but several of the chocolates and the pretzels melted in the 80+ degree weather they were delivered in. I'd recommend not getting this if it's over about 70 outside, or you can expect it to get hotter and melt in transit.
Looking at the picture, you're seeing a full gift stack in the background, and all the items spread out as well. You see 3 truffles (come in the tan box) and 3 other candies (come in the square gold box) in the picture. You also get one more truffle, one more candy, two large chocolate bars (tall rectangles in the back left), and a little box of really delicious chocolate covered mini pretzels (back right). They're all stacked up nicely and tied in a pretty sheer bow. The pretzel box was lighter weight and a little smashed in, but the other two boxes were very sturdy, expensive jewelery-box style boxes.
While the picture looks accurate, the written description has some discrepancies, so know the actual contents may vary. It says: Godiva milk chocolate pretzels (check), Godiva 8 piece truffles (I got a 4 piece box of truffles and a 4 piece box of chocolates), Godiva milk chocolate cashews (nope), Godiva Signature chocolate biscuits (nope), Godiva milk chocolate with caramel Gems (nope), Godiva dark chocolate bar (I got 1 dark chocolate with sea salt and 1 milk chocolate with hazelnuts). Weighed 1 lb, 3 oz as packaged, a bit under a pound minus the packaging.
Overall, a pretty little gift for any chocolate lover, but I'd probably max out at about $30 unless you have Prime--otherwise, you'll be getting a better deal on the Godiva site (the small chocolates and bars add up to $28 a la carte, though the small box of pretzels isn't on offer), along with the warm weather delivery guarantee.
