When Comcrap raised my basic cable & internet by almost $25 with taxes, my bill was over $120 a month...., that almost $1500 a year for crappy compressed signal. We just could not afford it anymore, so we cut the cable and bought us a old school OTA (Over The Air) Winegard HD7084 Winegard Platinum HD Series HD7084 High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna. We kept our internet, and download movies and TV shows we like through apple itunes, or watch hulu.
You, like myself was, may be reluctant to cut the cord, but once you do, there is no going back. I Cut my Comcrap bill by $85 a month with just the Comcrap internet blast service. Don't believe the hype on the package deals, demand one service and their lowest price 1 year deal. Threatening to go to Fios, really makes them go out of their way to find you a good deal. Like all the other reviews on here, it's true...., cut the cable, and you will never look back, and save yourself a bunch of money each year.

OK...., I'm off the cable company now and on to the Winegard HD7084 Winegard Platinum HD Series HD7084 High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna review.

I live way out in the woods of Virginia..., Spotsylvania to be exact. That's about 65 to 70 miles from Wash DC, and about 50 miles from Richmond.
I did a lot of research before I purchased this antenna, and along with it, I purchased the Winegard ANWI8700 Winegard AP Signal Amplifier.
This is a must for my area because of the heavy trees in my area, and the distance to the TV station antenna.
Set up was fairly easy and painless. If you are handy, you can do this yourself, but I recommend a helper for posting it to the side of your chimney or house.
With the antenna completely together, it measures at 7 ft width and 11 ft length, so yeah...

A great antenna... Well build and great reception. I first tired the antenna with analog reception and picked up many more stations and what appears to be perfect reception compared to my old rabbit ear antennas.

I then connected the antenna to the TV through a digital converter box. I did not have as many channels as I had in analog (without the converter box) but still more than my old rabbit ears. Picture and sound are excellent.

I did not use a pre-amplifier (pre-amp) and my TV's are anywhere from about 50 to 100 feet from the antenna. It does not appear that I have any problem with signal loss through the coaxial cables.

I connected 3 televisions and they all get great reception. The antenna may be a little bigger than what I needed but since I was putting it in the attic I decided I better go a little bigger to make up for the lost reception when compared to a roof mount.

Because the antenna is big it was a little challenging getting it in the attic and setup around all the beams so be aware of this if you plan to install in an attic. I took my time and setup was very easy except for getting it pointed in the right direction around the beams in the attic.

I've had the antenna installed about 2 weeks now and based on the results so far I highly recommend this antenna. The reception is free...

Ever installed a TV antenna? I have put up 3 over the analog years in the same location. Small ones, large ones etc. Never did I consider them of any benefit over rabbit ears. It is like all they did was amplify the faults of analog OTA broadcasts.
So you can imagine my expectations when I decided to install a new digital antenna 10' above my roof. I used quad-shielded cable to connect this Winegard antenna to my wife's tv. I just generally aimed it at Seattle's down town and went below to check the results. Wow! She had perfection on every channel including several we had no idea were within range. I was stunned. But while thinking of splitting her signal to power two other tvs in the home, I instead ordered a second one from Amazon, installed it just 2' below the first, with the same result. Our pictures are perfect. Then my son says, "You know why, Dad? Unlike cable and the satellite services, over the air signals are sent uncompressed because there are no band width limitations. Over the air digital TV gives the best picture of them all."
"Uh, okay..." I responded trying not to show that I was still somewhat in the dark. After all, what is wrong with compression? My car's engine enjoys all it can get. And as far as band width is concerned, the marching band I was in in high school filled both lanes every time we performed yet being that wide never did cause any issues. At least none that I was aware of. But I liked the sound of "Best Picture" and who wouldn't cozy up to the thought of "No monthly fees". Especially during these hard times.

We installed this antenna with rotor and Channel Master amplifier last summer. We live on a hill about 60 miles from the nearest tower. Reception was great. This antenna does not require much assembly. It folds out and snaps into place. I advise using an amplifier if you live in a rural area. We tried it without the amplifier and lost a lot of channels. Also, I highly recommend you secure it to your house with wires and use strong galvanized poles. Although this antenna is well made and held up well with 60 mph winds, it did not do well when we had a severe ice storm this past winter. The pole was not strong enough to hold the weight of the ice covered antenna with steel rotor and the pole bent and the antenna fell on the porch roof. It pretty much destroyed the antenna, so when I finish writing this review, I'm ordering another one of these antennas.
