Most Advanced Digital Antenna Preamplifier Design

Boost is the most advanced digital dual-band TV antenna booster available today. This outdoor preamplifier increases range and delivers a crystal clear TV signal to HDTVs so viewers can get more broadcast TV channels in high definition than with an antenna alone. Thanks to Clear Circuit Technology, Boost also features the lowest noise figure (1 dB typical). The Boost enhances any non-amplified indoor antenna, delivering more range and reducing dropout and pixelation.

Ultra Low Noise Preamplifier Delivers Ultimate Digital TV Picture and Sound Quality

Boost XT outdoor preamplifier works with any passive outdoor TV antenna and extends the signal range. What sets the Boost XT apart from other preamplifiers is that it boasts a true dual-path design with separate filtering and amplification paths for both frequencies, which greatly enhances signal selectivity and reduces noise and interference to the lowest levels of any product in this category, thanks to our revolutionary Clear Circuit Technology and TwinAmp Technology.

TwinAmp Technology Delivers Extraordinary Performance and Signal Accuracy

TwinAmp Technology separately amplifies VHF and UHF signals. This separation of bands increases signal handling capability up to 10 times more and reduces intermodulation, thereby maintaining the purest signal path possible. Bandpass filters remove RF interference including noise to the lowest levels for unsurpassed performance.

This was easy to install and it works well.
Jerry Prince
I installed the amp correctly, pre-amp near the antenna in the attic, power injector downstairs in the basement before my splitter.
C. Richardson
Very low noise which allows reception of distant signals without blowing out local signals.

In my attic I installed this preamplifier as in this order: 1. ClearStream™ 4 Ultra Long Range Outdoor DTV Antenna in Attic , 2. Wineguard LNA-200 Boost XT Digital HDTV preamplifier, 3. USB power inserter and 4. splitter (8way Distribution Amplifier). I now get 63 channels and 10 FM channels with the ClearStream™ 4 Ultra Long Range Outdoor DTV Antenna in Attic. Before adding a preamplifier I was only getting 12 stations that are about 35 miles away.

Note: I originally had used Antennas Direct PA18 UHF/VHF Antenna Pre-Amplifier Kit, but I returned it after this Winegard preamplifier out performed it. This Boost XT preamplifier has a built-in FM trap that attenuates FM signal so that it does not interfere with digital TV channels. This winegard has Gain 20 dB L-VHF, 15 dB H-VHF, 18 dB UHF and the Antennas Direct has gain18.6 dB VHF/15.4 dB UHF gain.

Please note that Cable Splitters can not be installed between the preamplifier and the power inserter. It they are in the wrong place, they will kill all signals as the splitters will block the preamplifier's operating power which will turn it into the equivalent of a brick.

This preamplifier consists of preamplifier, power inserter, 3’ USB cable, 110 V wall adapter, one zip tie, and two weather boots. The preamplifier is mounted on the antenna boom or on the mast as CLOSE TO THE ANTENNA AS POSSIBLE. The power inserter is mounted indoors before the splitters. The preamplifier is located as close as possible to the antenna feed point because the weak received signal must be amplified before it loses signal going through the coaxial cable, and also before it can be subjected to interference from sources between the antenna and the receiver.

The LNA-200 is an excellent piece of hardware that can produce significant benefits in over-the-air TV reception. That being said, its benefits can only be realized when signal conditions are appropriate and it is installed correctly. From analyzing the negative reviews, it appears that many of the problems that were encountered with this equipment were the result of inappropriate use and/or installation.

The particular situation in which this amplifier works well is one in which the receiving equipment is signal starved but not noisy – a low-level signal (e.g., transmitter tower is distant from the receiver and/or of relatively low power) embedded in a relatively low noise background. While expensive instrumentation is required to definitively determine when this situation exists, it is possible to use the signal strength diagnostics built into most modern digital TV’s to get a strong hint that this is the case. In particular, if a TV owner uses the Menu option to access a screen which shows the signal strength and/or signal-to-noise ratio and/or signal quality, a reasonably clear picture of an appropriate application may be possible. If these parameters are low – i.e., they reflect a small signal – or vary relatively rapidly in time, it is likely that the desired digital signal is being adversely affected by environmental or propagation distance effects. The best way to make this kind of observation is with a single TV set connected to a single antenna – either upper-VHF or UHF band – so that the intrinsic signal effects are separated from noise or losses arising from multiple splitting effects/losses and/or intrinsic receiver/line noise. Under these conditions, use of a high-quality, low-noise pre-amplifier (i.e.

We had purchased the Clear Stream VHF/UHF antenna a while back (absolutely the best HDTV antenna out there!) and although it got many stations (we ditched cable when our bill reached over $200 a month) there were some we still wanted. Did a bit of research and decided to go with the Winegard LNA-200 Preamplifier to see if it would boost the signal strength. We have the antenna and the booster in our attic. We live between Milwaukee and Chicago so was hoping to pick up one weak Milwaukee channel and some Chicago stations.

After the Winegard arrived we put it in use the same night. WOW! We went from 36 stations to 59! We now get Channel 12 (out of Milwaukee) and lots of Chicago stations, plus some more Milwaukee and surrounding area stations. This is a great little booster and well worth the money. We also had purchased the less expensive RCA booster here on Amazon previously (about $21) and that one did very well too but not as great as this one. We are using the RCA at our country home because for what it cost, it did bring in a number of extra channels, and we also use the Clear Stream antenna with it out there.

The quality of the TV signals are crystal clear. I swear they are better than when we had cable. We hooked it up so that it's using the cable wiring and goes to all 5 TV's in the house. If you only have one set, then it's easier yet. You can do a direct hookup and still get incredible reception.

If you're thinking of trying out a TV booster for signal strength I highly recommend the Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT Preamplifier. I honestly can't find one thing bad to say about it. This one's a MUST HAVE!
