This book has some great, unusual recipes. My father gave it to me when I started making wine this year. He bought it MANY years ago when he did a few batches of strawberry wine. It is straight forward and gives several options for fruits both common and uncommon. Easy to use for the beginner and enough options for challenge for the experienced wine maker.

I bought this book when someone gave me 12 pints of blackberries and 4 pints of raspberries. I wanted to make some wine out of them, so I bought this and whatever supplies the recipe in the book said I needed.

The wine turned out great.

For the recipes in the book, you don't need to get into the advanced testing using a hydrometer, refractometer, acit titration kit, pH meter, etc.

Just follow the basic winemaking instructions in the front of the book and you'll do fine.

The price of the book has gone up a lot since I bought it, but it's still worth the price in today's dollars.

Don't expect a big book. It's small. It has only basic instructions and 50 recipes. It gets 5 stars for that because that's all it purports to be. No long articles, no pictures, just the information you need. It has what you need and nothing more. It's thin, so it's easy to lose. Put it where you can find it again when you need it!

Buy this one before you buy any other winemaking books.

These are simple, but well described recipes that allow a beginner or experienced winemaker to make delicious wines from a very wide range of fruits and vegetables--even onions! We love the Orange wine recipe. The best part is these recipes do not rely on canned concentrates. You can use the fruits of the season to make them--peaches, dragon fruit, apricots, grapes, etc. A great way to preserve your home grown fruits when you have more than you can eat.

The Winemaker’s Recipe Handbook is truly the 101 of winemaking. The 101 Wine Recipes provide a great starting recipe for almost any type of wine.
If I could only recommend one resource to all aspiring winemakers out there: this book is the one!
Best of luck to you and your winemaking venture!

This is a clear and simple way to make good wines; I have given this book as a gift at least four times.
