Editorial Reviews

Want to learn Wing Chun but don't know where to start? Don't have a credible instructor to learn from? Want to super-charge your Wing Chun training?

In this Wing Chun training video from Sifu Chuck ONeill (www.LearnWingChunOnline.com, www.RevolutionWingChun.com), you'll learn the first form of the Wing Chun System - Sil Lim Tao (or "Little Idea Form"). In this video, Sifu Chuck takes you step-by-step through the form using 2 different camera angles to give you a better perspective. He also uses 2 different colored arm bands so you can easily follow along and learn with him.

From this form you will learn the core principles of Wing Chun including centerline, facing, and hand positions.

If you've struggled to learn Wing Chun in the past, it couldn't be simpler or easier with this Wing Chun training video series from Sifu Chuck O'Neill!

I bought this video this past Friday. I was originally going to buy the DVD but was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Amazon offered most of Sifu Chuck's DVD's on instant watch. I purchased the Instant Watch version and have been working with the video since Saturday evening (I watch it on my Roku box, but you can watch it on your PC or laptop as well). I want to add that there are no Wing Chun Sifu's or schools near my city so I'm studying it for the time being through videos and books until I move.

MAIN REVIEW:
When I first started the video, Sifu Chuck has a little speech he gives and explains what he's going to teach. After that, he gets right into it and starts teaching you the Sil Lim Tao form. The instruction is broken up into 3 different sections which I found very useful so I can practice each section as needed. He also demonstrates the sections of the form in 2 different angles; he will do it first facing you, then he will do a side view. Very helpful in getting your positioning right. When he completes a section, he follows it up by explaining to you what you should be focusing on in each section and tells you how to be critical of your hand positions. Eventually he puts all three sections together and reviews the full form!

I originally bought this video to learn the Sil Lim Tao form so I could get a better concept of the center-line theory. I will end up purchasing all of the videos from his series, but Amazon doesn't carry them all. I think Amazon is missing 2 videos from his series (Chum Kiu form and its applications).

All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase! Sifu Chuck is an excellent teacher, and I can't wait to get better at Sil Lim Tao and watch his video on Sil Lim Tao applications.

As a karateka in Goju Ryu, this is a great training video especially for beginners as Sifu Chuck goes through each step slowly and repeats the movement. If you saw Ip Man you will recognize some of the movements. As a bonus, you will learn some Chinese during the training. I would recommend this video to anyone looking to practice Wing Chun or just to learn another style. No prior karate experience is necessary to follow this video.

This is the best DVD I have seen for learning the form, it breaks everything down and makes it easy to follow. I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn the form.
