Book Description

She Just Wants to Fly.

Ever decided to do something that seemed like a good idea and in the second before there’s no turning back think, I musta been totally mental when I came up with this? And, then, Oh, well, here goes.

That’s how Angel inTraining Grace Lightbourne felt right before she asked the Big Kahuna to go straight to Earth on a mission as a Guardian Angel. The problem? She never was a great student and now she won’t even finish her last three years of school. To make matters worse, Archangel Michael isn’t happy about her special assignment, but Grace is convinced she’s on a fast track to her wings. Besides, how hard can it be? She’s working with humans, after all.

Winging It! is the first book in the Angel inTraining series, an irreverent and light-hearted take on Angels, Heaven and everything else that's divine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Winging It! March 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Winging It! was such a cute, funny book! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing. I really enjoyed the author's style of writing. It was very fresh and fun.

Grace Lightbourne is an Angel-In-Training (AIT) who just wants her wings and is willing to try just about anything to get them early.

I really liked Grace's character. She was such a sweet, naive girl trying to do her best while avoiding studying. Pretty soon, though, she's in over her head and has to learn a few lessons quick or be faced with becoming a "wingless-one." (pretty much the worst thing she can imagine)

Seeing Grace try to fit in with the Murphy's was pretty hilarious, but my favorite thing about the book was the little stuff like: The way Grace viewed everything and the figures of speech that she would use (They were so original and funny), or the Hierarchy of the Celestial Beings. I felt like I had a huge smile on my face almost the whole time I was reading it.

Also, the story itself was interesting and I couldn't help but root for Grace.

Overall, I found it to be a lighthearted, witty book and I'll definitely be reading the sequel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the read! April 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, a not-so-perfect angel in training going to Earth to help a high school girl to earn her wings. I like her human-like characteristics, she goofs up a little, she procrastinates, she's maybe a bit too interested in another male angel, but she's got her heart in the right place. Heaven and its inhabitants are humourously described through her eyes as just another place, some fun stuff, some humdrum...
Would recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, sassy and just a fun read! October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Something about the idea of an "angel in training" trying to get her wings attracted me and although it is not the usual type of book I would read I decided to give it a try. I was delightfully surprised to find that I enjoyed reading it very much. Grace sounds like a somewhat typical teenager who lacks the experience to understand that, usually, in order to achieve a worthwhile goal you must work and sacrifice to achieve it. She tries to cut corners but when that doesn't work, she learns she has to do it the hard way (probably why The Big Kahuna agreed to send her on her first mission without prior training in the first place--He knows some people just can't learn the easy way). I suppose this is intended to be a y/a book but at 70+, I found it very entertaining and I will look forward to book #2 to see how Grace matures in her struggle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wingin' It Review- GREAT! November 21, 2012
By Jenna
Format:Kindle Edition
I want to take a moment to encourage readers of any age to read this book. It could be a little complex for readers under the age of ten though. The book is directed for all ages; never suggesting anything inappropriate. The main character does fall in love, but everything is kept on the down-low. I read this book throughout every little minute. This is a great book and I feel so fortunate to have read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome and Hilarious book! April 6, 2012
The first time I saw this book I didn't know what to expect. I have to admit I'm not the type to read books about angels. But I must say, this is the only exception! I simply loved the book from beginning to end. I literally couldn't stop laughing. Grace is an energetic girl we has big dreams, and she's not scared o let other people know how she feels either. I love how fearless she is, and her goal to get her wings! The story was so funny as she adjusts to earth and how clueless she was. It was great full through. I sincerely stayed up till 1 am to just finish it. It was 1 am worthy I tell you. I was hooked! I have already recommended this to my friends! Its a great read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Flying by the seat of her pants ... April 29, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Because she doesn't yet have wings. Angels in Training don't get those, and Grace Lightbourne is no exception. But she is. Brash, appearing to have the maturity of a sixteen year old, hating to study and professing 'boredom' with everything, this is a very funny and close to realistic view in on someone who is "winging it" to reach a goal.
There is a fascination we have with all things angelic, and this really does bring them into a form we can more easily relate to. The "stern and stoic" Michael, the rather prim and proper Faith, the logical and risk averse Mercy, the all things jock and perhaps not quite angelic Victor. And then there is Grace. Part snarky teenager with all the rebellion inherent to the age, part goodhearted soul worried for everyone and wanting people to be smiling and happy - she learns that the completion of a mission is not without rules ( and she breaks each and every one ) or consequences, and that perhaps the most important thing needed is to stop, look and listen.
Hints back to Michael as an Angel In Training leave the door open for other books in the series - and perhaps the most important point of the book, when Grace realizes that it might be God driving the taxi - he asks - does it matter? And really - it doesn't. Everyone in the book is treated with the same dignity and thought, if slightly delayed in action - and is a fun read.
