Biography

"It's not a happy album, I wouldn’t say that," admits HIM frontman Ville Valo of the band’s newest release Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice. "But for the first time HIM does acknowledge that there is such a thing called ‘happiness,’ even if it is far, far away. This album is more a speculation on how to get there, — and that it is possible."

Editorial Reviews

With 3 million sales to their credit already, HIM are set to transcend their cult status and break into the mainstream with the release of their new single ‘Wings Of A Butterfly’. The first single to be taken from their forthcoming album ‘Dark Light’, the hauntingly dynamic ‘Wings Of A Butterfly’ is classic HIM, the kind of tales of love and desire that inspire fans to worship at the altar of the almighty Heartagram. Title track is backed by 'Poison Heart' originally done by the Ramones. Sire. 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short, but well worth the money, November 6, 2005

There really isn't a whole lot to say about this single, considering it's only two tracks long. "Wings Of A Butterfly/Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly" is of course the title track. Though it's probably the weakest track on Dark Light, it's still a pretty cool song.

The other song however is much better. "Poison Heart," which was originally a song by The Ramones, is the reason I spent the money to have this. Even as far as HIM covers go, this is very good. It's not as good as (Don't Fear) The Reaper, which was off thier first album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, but it's right up there.

Even though it's only got two tracks, I say buy it. Both of them are very good, and as of now, the only place to get both of these on a CD together is the Japanese version of Dark Light. Though I'd wait until the "Killing Loneliness" singles come out. One of those may offer Poison Heart, along with some other songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was thinking something completely different!!!, February 27, 2006
This review is from: Wings of a Butterfly Pt 1 (Audio CD)
When I saw the "Dark Light" CD at a store I thought it would be some kind of satanic music, like a new Marilyn Manson, but then I listened to the album at a friend's house and it was great! This is my very favorite song in the whole album, I think it's very cool and if you liked it, you'll enjoy the album as well. Bye.
