This is the true story of the most daring rescue mission of our time. A middle east capital is exploding in bloody revolution. As foreigners rush to evacuate, two executives from the influential American corporation EDS are caught in the political crossfire. They're separated from their families, arrested on trumped-up charges and thrown in jail by a fanatical official. In the chaos of a hostile country, escape is impossible. With his men's lives in danger, and the American government unable to help, EDS magnate Ross Perot must resort to extraordinary measures. He goes outside the system to enlist the special skills of retired Lt. Col. Arthur "Bull" Simons, a cigar-chomping former Green Beret who once led a valiant mission to free American prisoners in Vietnam. Great true story of Ross Perot's plan and execution of the freeing of his employees of IDS who were taken hostage while working in Iran. The book, written by Ken Follett, was excellent. The movie version lacks some of the book's excitement and color, possibly due to the casting of the characters. Perhaps, it was the direction which was lacking in insight and depth. Still, all in all, a great portrayal of an important event in America's history. A truly heroic and patriotic film.

Excellent Movie

This movie should be Mandatory in Business Schools. This movie is based on a true story of Ross Perot and his employees at EDS. The movie has the inspiration that the movie "Tucker" had. This movie will keep your attention until the end.

Makes me want to move to Dallas!

CAUTION...PLEASE NOTE....This is NOT the John Wayne movie..!!!! The other reviewers reviewed the wrong movie. This movie stars Burt Lancaster as Col. Arthur "Bull" Simons (a retired Special Forces officer who led the POW rescue attempt in North Viet Nam) who was hired by Ross Perot (Richard Crenna) to go into Iran and rescue two of his EDS employees who were being held in prison during the fall of the Shah of Iran. Based on actual events this was a TV mini-series. It is a very good retelling of the actual events and a very worthwhile purchase. Note...this movie is "On Wings of Eagles".....the John Wayne movie is "Wings of Eagles".....
