Great true story of Ross Perot's plan and execution of the freeing of his employees of IDS who were taken hostage while working in Iran. The book, written by Ken Follett, was excellent. The movie version lacks some of the book's excitement and color, possibly due to the casting of the characters. Perhaps, it was the direction which was lacking in insight and depth. Still, all in all, a great portrayal of an important event in America's history. A truly heroic and patriotic film.

Excellent Movie

This movie should be Mandatory in Business Schools. This movie is based on a true story of Ross Perot and his employees at EDS. The movie has the inspiration that the movie "Tucker" had. This movie will keep your attention until the end.

Makes me want to move to Dallas!

CAUTION...PLEASE NOTE....This is NOT the John Wayne movie..!!!! The other reviewers reviewed the wrong movie. This movie stars Burt Lancaster as Col. Arthur "Bull" Simons (a retired Special Forces officer who led the POW rescue attempt in North Viet Nam) who was hired by Ross Perot (Richard Crenna) to go into Iran and rescue two of his EDS employees who were being held in prison during the fall of the Shah of Iran. Based on actual events this was a TV mini-series. It is a very good retelling of the actual events and a very worthwhile purchase. Note...this movie is "On Wings of Eagles".....the John Wayne movie is "Wings of Eagles".....

Based on Ken Follett's bestseller and real events, a terrific tv mini-series with Burt Lancaster as Col. Art "Bull" Simons -- the leader of the legendary raid on Son Tay, N. Vietnam -- Richard Crenna as Ross Perot and Paul Lemat. It tells the story of Perot whose EDS employees in Tehran are seized by the govt of the ol' Ayatollah Khakamani. Perot hires Simons to break out his men after all other means fail.

This is one of our favs. This true story gives us a good idea of what Iran was/is like. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ross Perot ends up being quite a hero going to great lengths to rescue his employees. Good movie.

My video arrived within 3 days and was in excellent condition. The service was excellent and so was the product I purchased.

Looked long and hard to find this movie in DVD format. Thought that was what I ordered so although movie was great, had to find a VHS player to watch. Disappointed.
