This book will keep you glued to it folks; Guaranteed; I just finished last night and it kept me going; You had one woman(Johnnie Mae)with a lot on her plate, when she meets this old woman(Sarah)who tells her a story so incredible that even she don't believe it; Ok, hold that for a minute; Theresa and Lena have gotten closer, and were now awaiting the birth of Theresa's child when a stranger(or not)graces them with her presence;Then is when the sparks fly; Hold that too; Now, add this special necklace, a person's lifelong obsession to get it, the search for a family that may have been right under Johnnie Mae's nose all along and you have the makings of a good story; You won't be able to put it down because you want to know what happened and how. But somehow, I feel a sequel in this too;

On the heels of her first novel, Promises Beyond Jordan, Vanessa Davis Griggs has written a sequel that promises to be a big hit in the Christian Fiction genre. In WINGS OF GRACE, readers are once again pulled into the magnetic life of Pastor George Landris several months after his break up with Theresa Jordan. Pastor Landris is now engaged to Johnnie Mae Taylor and there is a whole host of new characters to enjoy.
Johnnie Mae is a novelist who has embarked upon a great mystery she finds in an elderly woman named Sarah Fleming who appears to be in need of a savior. Pastor Landris is still the Pastor of Wings of Grace Faith Ministry Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He learns from some of his parishioners that despite all his biblical teachings, there are still those in the church who are caught up in tradition and a battle is brewing that may mean his pastorship is at risk. As they prepare to spend a lifetime together, will outside forces intervene? At the same time, Theresa is preparing for the birth of her child, while she works diligently on a relationship with her mother, Lena Patterson. But a long, lost relative appears on the scene with some less than savory intentions that may threaten their relationship. Each of the subplots converges into one good mystery with a few breath holding twists, as Johnnie Mae and Pastor Landris prepare for their nuptials. Vanessa Davis Griggs writes a magnificent mystery woven around a very tender love story that embedded many biblical lessons. She includes a bible verse at the beginning of each chapter. Whether intended or not, I found that the chapters each provides a more fruitful understanding of each verse. I was absorbed with the way she incorporated the lessons of faith, love, forgiveness and family within this novel alongside a cast of unforgettable characters. This was a great read and those who love romance peppered with a little mystique will not be disappointed. Reviewed by Brenda M. Lisbon of The RAWSISTAZ™ Reviewers

There is None Like It!,
This review is from: Wings of Grace (Paperback)
I had just finished reading "Promises Beyond Jordan", when I discovered "Wings of Grace". The only thing I can say about both these books is "There is nothing Like Them". These two books take you to a new spiritual level, with a cast of charcters that are very well developed and understood. I have gone on to share both these books with my co-workers, who too have found my enjoyment, satisfaction, and a spiritual revival.
Instead of me giving you any details of these books, I encourage you to purchase them for yourself, and experience the joy that it has brought me. Thanks Vanessa for writing uplifiting and rewarding novels. "There are none like Them".

Enduring Faith and God's Grace,
By
This review is from: Wings of Grace (Paperback)
Lena Patterson was able to put her past behind her and lead a life that did not remind her of her negligent and absent mother along with the bad memories she had concerning her. Instead she held on to her grandmother's wisdom and the gift she gave her to pass down to her own daughter one day. Only Lena had no idea that the very thing that she held precious would cause her mother to return to her life.
What Lena did not come to realize until after the fact is that an invitation to visit New York to see a lawyer would change her life in a good way. Her past would definitely catch up with her present and change her outlook on the future when it came to family and the ties that would bind her forever with those who helped to form the person she would become. These ties would include research that Johnnie Mae Taylor was doing to help an elderly woman she met while collecting information for a novel she was writing. This would come to inadvertently change her life as well, and that of her soon-to-be husband, Pastor Landris. Times and events would put Pastor Landris, Johnnie Mae, Lena and Maurice (her daughter's boyfriend) in New York on the morning of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. All four of them had appointments to be in one of the towers at the very time the planes crashed into the buildings. Even in the midst of the attacks and the events that put all four of them at the Twin Towers, God's grace prevailed and all was not lost, but a new tie formed. All were involved in the end result of what God had for Lena in the form of a relative she would never have known about named Sarah Fleming. Griggs did a wonderful job fusing together the lives of these people and through their troubles and struggles brought "Wings of Grace" to an end most fitting the saying, "what is done in the dark will come to the light." To Be Continued, I Hope!,

Wings of Grace by Christian novelist Vanessa Davis Griggs is the sequel to her popular novel Promises Beyond Jordan. In the sequel, Pastor George Landris marries his long-time friend, writer Johnnie Mae Taylor. The marriage does not take place without a bit of drama. The good Reverend is stripped of his duties upon returning home from his honeymoon while his bride does research for her next book and she involves them both in a mystery that takes a journey from state to state to unravel.
Promises Beyond Jordan was an interesting read; but Wings of Grace has an even more exciting story line. Also returning are the characters she so well developed in the original story; Lena Patterson and her daughter Theresa who was once the fiancée of Pastor Landris, several of the members of his congregation, and Theresa's father, the Bishop. She also introduces a new character, a relative of Pastor Landris, his older brother Thomas. Thomas is a man of dubious character bringing even more drama into the fold. However, due to his brother's influence Thomas begins to find his place in his walk with the Lord as the story moves on. Ms. Griggs's characters resemble your every day Christian folk whose unwavering faith in God gives them the strength to carry on; yet they have their shortcomings and obstacles to overcome. The story line is also historical and shows the racial distinctions that existed in the South for several generations as Johnnie Mae searches for the truth. She finds she must go back and research the past to find answers to the present situation. The ending was rather interesting also. It probably leaves room for a series of books about the Landris Family. Vanessa Davis Griggs is a talented writer who goes the distance to create an interesting plot. She also gives you a setting for her story that is very visual, one where you can actually travel with the characters. I enjoyed both books very much and look forward to her next book. I'd rate this book a 5 on a scale of 1-5. It was an excellent read. Her books are worth buying. -Idrissa Uqdah for People Who Love Good Books

This is a good story, a little preachy in spots, but enjoyable with a decent payoff. The first couple of chapters were a bit confusing, but once I got past them, the story started to come together. Somehow, I didn't realize this is a sequel (although it says it right on the jacket) and there's now a follow-up. I'll have to pick up the prequel to find out the back story on Pearl Rose, and Theresa and Landis. And, of course, I want to know what "really" happened to Memory. Oooh boy, those wedding vows were something! Read it!
