Bought this last year for my best friend as a Christmas present. We always duck hunt together so I knew i had a chance to enjoy it too. I know it's not completely the rig that did it but when we took it out the first time we had a group of nearly 30 mallards try to land amongst our decoys in no time at all. We don't get to do it often but we limited out that morning. I love how the rig spreads the decoys out and the motion is easy to manipulate. I'm definately going to buy another for myself before season starts back up again. The only complaint I have is the jerk handle sinks if you drop it in the water. This can be remedied with a wine cork but i know the cost to the company would be very little to make this handle float.

Slaughters ducks!,

My hunting buddy rolled his eyes when I showed up with this thing. But when we came home with twice as many ducks as usual, even he had to admit it was a pretty great investment. One hint: while stringing it up, stick the pole in the pond, and tie the other end to something to keep the tension tight. Then clip on the metal armatures. I first tried doing it with the string loose and I kept finding myself trying to untangle knots in the dark. The telescoping pole broke the first time I tried using it. I was using a hammer to drive it into pretty tough ground, and it was too much. Locking mechanism broke off. Pretty easy to fix with a simple screw, though. And in hindsight it was pretty dumb of me to use the hammer. So I won't dock it a star. This setup also makes it very easy to move your decoys on the fly. Just pull out the stake, drag it somewhere else, and push the stake in again. Much simpler than trying to relocate 12 anchored decoys. |
