If you missed this in Imax 3D, you missed a ground breaking milestone in film. The first Imax 3D with actors; most are documentaries. An incredible experience in Imax, a great adaptation of a true story on video.

story of two pilots after world war one trying to establish an aerial mail route service between chile and argentina over the mountains.
at that time, mail was very slow due to very high and dangerous mountains between the two nations. they wanted to start a company and make money by providing air mail for much faster delivery. they had to prove that they could get mail from one country to another.

they explored by flying over andes and found that there was no place to land safely. taking mail over would require that nothing go wrong with plane. one of them then takes mail over andes and plane develops problems, so he has to figure out way to survive.

val kilmer is only in a couple of scenes at beginning - too bad because he is cool as a pilot.

This film (the first to be filmed in IMAX 3D) stars Val Kilmer,

and Craig Sheffer as airplane pilots who boards a plane headed to

France, and nearly got killed in the process. Nice performance by

Elizabeth McGovern as Sheffer's wife, who takes care of the house

fixing meals and cleaning his clothes for him, while he flies

planes. Entertaining, even if it's just a 40-minute feature film.

Granted, it's not a bad little movie. But please be aware that you're paying for a 38-minute film, not a full-length feature.

A short but very interesting movie from one of the greatest of directors, Jean-Jacques Annaud, about the writer/aviator Antoine de Saint Exupery and the perilous effort to establish the viability of airmail over the Andes Mountains.
