Book Description

In the struggle for survival...

Meghan's graduation gift is one that any eighteen-year-old would dream of: traveling abroad to England. Her journey turns into more adventure than expected when Meghan meets the mysterious Kiernan and is introduced to a strange society hidden beneath the streets of London.

The fittest win out at the expense of their rivals...

When Meghan's life is threatened, she flees the city and seeks sanctuary in a distant village--a place unseen by human eyes for over one hundred years. Not knowing if anyone can be trusted, Meghan tries to determine who is friend, who is foe... and who has captured her heart. Meanwhile, a battle for survival brews all around her.

5.0 out of 5 stars A magical book and an addictive page-turner! May 26, 2012
By PamelaC
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just bought this book yesterday after reading the sample pages and immediately getting hooked on the story and needing to know what would happen next. I bought the book and spent the next hour immersed in a fascinating world of faeries, then got up early this morning and read straight through until I finished, it's that good.

College student Meghan thought she was going on a fun date with charming, blond-haired Kiernan and was introduced to a world she never knew existed....one that was impossible to walk away from. This is not the type of book I ordinarily read, but the storyline intrigued me, with the idea of twin brothers separated on their third birthday, one staying with his mother and the other going with his father to the dark world that he creates and rules over.

Without giving away too much of the story, I will share that there is a sweet love triangle here that is G rated and should appeal to all ages. This is also a well written and fast-paced story that races along. It's very difficult to put down and as the first book in a trilogy, it has a satisfying ending that leaves this reader dying for the next book.

This story should appeal to readers who enjoyed Twilight and other similar stories. The world of the Faeries is vividly drawn and the characters are likable, especially the boys grandmother, Selena and both Avery and Kiernan make for great heroes...Meghan isn't sure which one she likes better...and I'm not either, they're both amazing.

Highly recommend this, will be telling my twin nieces, who are 14 about it, and also my friends who are in their 40's...it really is a great story for both teens and adults. I predict that this book will do very well, and that the author will have a long and happy career ahead of her!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read, A Whimsical Romp June 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wings of Shadow is sweet with a little bit of sexy, adventurous with a dash of thrill, romantic without being too sappy.

As an adult with a love for the urban fantasy/alternate reality genre, I was surprised how much I enjoyed and became attached to the older teen characters. Kyss does a good job introducing whimsy and magic yet manages to weave in Darwinism for an extra dose of credible world building.

Overall Wings of Shadow is a fun romp for adolescents on up to adults.

I thought this was a pretty good read. It was a good pace and wasn't what I expected at first. But, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I would suggest this for around teen age and older.

I love all fantasy books and this one was very good. I liked how Avery sacrificed more than once to ensure his brother's happiness. I can't wait for the second book.

3.0 out of 5 stars underwhelming
I really just could not get into this one. It had some intriguing ideas about legendary magical creatures. However, I found it sometimes tedious following the storyline.
