Hope Irvin Marston is the author of ten nonfiction books for young readers. One of her books was a Junior Literary Guild selection, another was named a Notable Book by the National Council of Social Studies Teachers and the Children's Book Council. A native of Beech Creek, Pennsylvania, Hope now resides in upstated New York with her husband Arthur and their three dogs: an akita, a boxer, and a golden retriever.

This is a wonderful series. The $4.95 edition is a miniaturized version of the larger paperbacks. All of the content appears to be there, but the book is very small in size, which detracts somewhat from the opportunity to appreciate the art.
