The BirdCam is pretty amazing!,

I do research with plants and wanted to take some timelapse photos of my research plants as they are growing. I also wanted to find a relatively inexpensive way of doing this. I went to a camera store and they said that it would be a minimum of $1000 to do what I wanted. A friend of mine told me about BirdCam, and it was perfect for what I needed. Since I have finished my timelapse work with my plants, I have tried my hand at being a bird watcher. It's easy to use and pretty fun. I strongly recommend the BirdCam.

Love the video -- wish it would do longer than 10 seconds!,

The bluebird closest to the camera is the female who came out of the nesting box to get fed by her mate. (She is incubating 6 beautiful blue eggs.) She flaps her wings and chirps, just like a fledging. He lovingly obliges her with an insect. Is that cool or what?!! For best use,you should get an additional memory card, I got 2mb, and is adequate for me--have shot as many as 188 videos/photos in one day. The video mode shoots a 10-sec video upon detecting motion, then a still shot at the end. You can set sensitivity and number of videos/photos per event. Focus is surprisingly good. Haven't tried to remote control option to take photos/videos at will. Camera is sturdy and well made. Highly recommend!

I did a lot of research trying to make up my mind on what bird cam to buy and I sorry I didn't buy the Wingscapes BirdCam sooner. I love it. It is easy to use and I make one of my photographer friends envious of the birdshots I have gotten. I can't wait to get home from work each day to see who has been at the feeders.

this is a well made easy to use cam, by a company that backs up their product, had a slight problem with an error code, got in touch with them, they talked me through it(error was mine), and assured me cam is underwarranty for one year, with them sending out a new one, getting mine at no cost.couldnt be easier to use, insert sd card(has internal memory, but only 32mb,4gb from amazon for12$) , select photo or video, and set it up, has a tripod mount,(very commong thread,i had two different devices that works with it) pictures look really good, and to get them on your computer, just plug in usb, hit mode and enter, and for me it was plug and play, works perfect with windows media player. it also has time lapse feature which could be very cool for other uses. 5stars

I have used the birdcam for a few months. I have only used the photo ability component not the video yet though. However, I am thinking of buying another to capture another area since I like it so much!

The camera in this is about average for a decent cell phone camera at 3 Mp. You will not be submitting photos to National Geographic with this thing. It will provide enough detain to ID birds if setup correctly. The video frame rate is low, expect choppy video. It's designed to have some fun with your bird feeders, and it will give you that. If you shoot into the sun your colors will wash out. Keep the sun behind the camera, but not blocking it. After a day of shooting a feeder about 15% of the photos were keepers.

I first heard about the Wingscapes camera when our local gardening expert (Felder Rushing) talked about it on his weekly radio show. I love birds, so I knew right away this was something I needed!I've gotten some wonderful photos of the birds that come to my backyard feeder. It took them a few weeks to warm up to it (so be patient in the beginning), but now I get all kinds of photos every day. It's so fun to see what kind of birds stop by while I'm at work. Of course the camera has its limitations. The focus is not always that great or the birds don't always stand in the frame like you want them to. But I really enjoy my photos and sharing them with others. The Wingscapes is a great gift for yourself or the bird-lover in your life!

I love the BirdCam! I do have it set higher than necessary so I have pictures of swaying feeders, as well as great bird pictures. Now I need to work on getting the camera closer to the feeders, especially the hummingbird feeders, for some better close-ups. I bought the mounting arm with the BirdCam and think that I have to put it right on the feeder pole to get the best close-ups but it's a work in progress.I really like that I can adjust the timing, numbers in a sequence and the sensitivity of the camera since I have focused on a pole with multiple feeders and have a wide variety of visitors throughout the day. When I import the images to the camera and run a slide show with a very brief interval it's like watching the birds in slow motion - probably a video would be better but I'm still playing around with the settings. |
