5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for Seniors
I bought this Wingscapes WSCA03 Audubon BirdCam for my bird-watching parents. They love it. It takes beautiful pictures and functions perfectly. Operation of the camera is easy: they can download the pictures to their computer or to their digital picture frame; or they can hook the camera to their TV and watch a slide show of the latest snaps. I wish I had gotten this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, could be better
I purchased this version of the wildlife cam over the one with flash because there seemed to be too many issues around the flash recycling fast enough. The first use of the cam was pointed towards a hummingbird feeder. The motion sensor seems to work ok and I've captured both video and stills of hummingbirds. The usability to set up the camera could be improved because...

4.0 out of 5 stars good camera, September 20, 2010

This is an excellent camera - I have used it quite a bit before I decided to put in a review - I have attached it to a tree and let'er go. The output is pretty darn good and I would highly recommend it. I do ony have one small issue with it, and that I have to take it down from the tree to swap out the card and the batteries (not so with the plantcam - which I also purchased for timelapse). Outside this one issue (only reason I won't give it 5 stars) - it does a good job of capturing video when it's triggered by motion.

The first use of the cam was pointed towards a hummingbird feeder. The motion sensor seems to work ok and I've captured both video and stills of hummingbirds. The usability to set up the camera could be improved because you have to navigate through a bunch of options and there isn't clear instructions of what to do when you are finished setting up. I use a 2GB Kingston SD card - make sure you only use SD cards. Search for, "Mini Hummingbird Hummzinger, Red" and you will see a video capture.

Have been using Audubon BirdCams only since February 2011. I keep adding Cams because it turns out that my yard is more fascinating than I ever imagined! Have been birding with binocs for forty years but the past few months have opened my eyes. Right now I am getting beautiful pictures of immature Flickers, Cardinals, Jays, Red-Bellied and Downy Woodpeckers, Catbirds, Titmice, Nuthatches, Chickadees, Carolina Wrens, Crows...you get the idea. These are quality pictures where you can study the bird as long as you want, get to know individuals (I happen to have bonded with a young Cowbird, of all things), see family interactions (e.g., Daddy Flicker showing his three sons where to dine), see species interactions, and catch an occasional fox trotting by. I am truly agog. If you go to wingscapes.com you can see some of my shots under nancybirdies. And no I do NOT work for wingscapes, but have found them easy to work with! Get one, try it. Wingscapes WSCA03 Audubon BirdCam Such a bargain for such fun.

I bought this to record what comes to my feeder and I am extremely pleased with it! It was very easy to set up and install and the first set of pictures I looked at off of the SD card were great! I was pleased to see a red-bellied woodpecker was at my feeder besides the usual cardinals and chickadees. A worhtwhile purchase!

1.0 out of 5 stars Make sure of your purchase, February 20, 2011
This review is from: Wingscapes WSCA03 Audubon BirdCam (Lawn & Patio)
My husband received this as a gift from his kids. He set it up 10 feet away from his bluebird house, and felt like it scared them away from their nest.

He took it down after 1 day, and contacted the company for a return. They do not accept returns on used merchandise. (how do you know you want to return it if you don't use it.)

Make sure you want this item before you purchase it.
