Product Description

When an auto drives onto your property you will know it. The magnetic sensing method used by the Vehicle Alert is immune to false alarms by animals, swaying trees and people. The sensor probe is simply buried 6 to 8 inches underground beside your driveway and a wire (up to 2,500 ft) runs back to the console in your house. The console's buzzer sounds for an adjustable duration when a car passes by, and also can activate 2 auxiliary Form A relays for switching On lights, alarms, cameras, bells, X10, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vehicle Alert module, October 7, 2011

This review is from: Winland Vehicle Alert System (Console & Transformer) (Electronics)
It seems to work just fine. I used my backhoe to dig a 250 foot trench down the middle of my driveway and back filled the dirt. I hooked it up to the Vehicle Alert module in the house and it senses vehicles that enter my property with a loud 3 or 4 second beep from the Vehicle Alert module. It's pretty sensitive. I have it about 20 feet from the end of the driveway and it still falses whenever a vehicle with a dirty ignition system drives by. There is a potentiometer on the Vehicle Alert module to make the sensor less sensitive. I did make a small adjustment and got rid of most of the falses. The school bus that drives by the end of my driveway at 8am and 3:10pm sets it off for the 3 or 4 second beep. I don't mind it. When I first installed the system it was way too sensitive and incoming thunder storms also made it go off. If a thunder storm was getting ready to start, the closer it got, the more the vehicle alert module would beep more and more, then "boom", the thunder storm would start. I have it adjusted to pretty much how I like it. It seems to be a decent system. I can also hook it up to my CCTV system camera alarm input and can turn on a camera when the sensor senses a vehicle entering the property.
