I have been searching for this movie almost my entire adult life and am so happy to now own it. This movie is just as wonderful as I remembered it being years ago. I would tell everyone with children to buy or rent this movie, they simply don't make movies for people of all ages like this anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take me out to the ballgame, December 27, 2011

Insightful story about Pete Gray who lost his arm at age 10 in a truck accident. They live in a minning town and his brother helps him work on his balance and running and eventually he makes a ballplayer of himself.

They grow up and his brother aspires to be a boxer and gets pummeled. Pete tries to get in the military but they won't accept a one-arm-man. He goes to a open baseball tryout and is turned away. Eventually he does get a tryout and is able to play for the AAA team of the St. Louis Browns in Memphis and is a great base stealer and outfielder.

A young boy in California loses his arm and his parents want him to meet Pete, he wants no part of that. They eventually do meet and Pete loses the chip on his shoulder.

He makes it to the Major Leagues and gets to play at Yankee Stadium, his lifelong dream. Quality story.

5.0 out of 5 stars INSPIRING! I saw this as a kid and still remember it vividly., December 13, 2008
This review is from: Winner Never Quits [VHS] (VHS Tape)
One of the best baseball films I have ever seen, and trust me I have seen almost all of them. This is based on a true story of Pete Gray, a one-armed Major Leauguer. I taped this movie off of TV when I was kid and watched it over and over again. I am so glad it is available on VHS. I have yet to find a DVD version.
