This book is written by someone who worked closely with Johnny Cash and the Cash family, and contains fresh observations and insights into that great singer's career and life. Chris Wren is a distinguished former journalist (Look Magazine, Newsweek, NY Times) who writes with grace and poetry about an icon in American music. This is a must read for Cash fans.

This is probably the best printed source of information on Cash's early life and career. There's a lot about the Cash family and Johnny's upbringing in Arkansas, too. Wren puts you on the tour bus with Cash and his band. Lots of great detail and stories. Anyone interested in Cash's life should read it.
