Winnie the Pooh

I have read this entire collection. It's really fascinating. Although I found it was a little hard for young children to stay focussed through out the whole story. It would be best for kids ages 5 and up.

These are the original Pooh stories, poems and drawings bythereal author and illustrator, not the poor Disney imitation. Acceptno substitutes to these witty and unforgettable books.

I read this book when I was 5 and I was amazed. Everyone has their favorite teddy-bear, their favorite toy. Most of us imagine that they have their own lives in which we cannot partake. Winnie-The Pooh offers a world of toys where the child gets to enjoy the world of its toys, where amazing things happen, and where your favorite teddy-bear is a hero.

Unfortunately, these days we only know this tale via Disney which makes it obscure and media-driven.

I recommend that you read the book, do not purchase any of Winnie-the Pooh paraphenalia, kick back and relieve the happiness of childhood as it was or could've been.

This is the same collection, right down to the green case, that I bought for my son some 30 plus years ago, when he "was very young". For anyone who read these books to their children, and for any of the "grown up children" that still remember them, these wonderful stories of childhood in a more innocent time are very special. I don't think it matters if "we are six" or if "we are sixty", this is literature that ANYone can read at any age and still enjoy. What a beautiful escape from the stresses of our every day grown-up world!I intend to purchase this set again for my own library, of which there are many other "childrens'" books that I still love to open and read.

The simple pen and ink drawings belie the magic that leaps from every page. If your kids relationship with Pooh is best described by the commercial Disney experience, you owe it to them, and yourself, to explore the original writings! Beautiful, captivating and heart-warming, this set is the quintessential addition to your library, as well.

I bought these for my 3 year old daughter. She loves listening to the stories. We read them over and over without ever tiring of them. Great to read the originals and not the Disney version.

My daughter has been a life-long lover of Winie the Pooh. She had her first baby in August and I bought this set for him to read (when he is older). She purchased an original Pooh for him just like the one she had as a little girl. Carrying on the 'Pooh' tradition!

A really fun, exciting dvd set for very young and old! Our kids and grandkids love Winnie the Pooh and all the characters in Christopher Robin's wood.

In response to people's comments about these stories not being appropriate for children under a certain age, it depends on how developed your child's vocabulary and imagination are, rather than his or her chronological age. If your child has an imaginary friend, ascribes different emotions to his toys, or makes up stories of his own, he's probably ready to sit through a long story with just a few black and white illustrations. He'll be able to make up the pictures in his head. If he hasn't reached this level of development, yet, he'll need more illustrations in order to enjoy the stories.
