Pooh Perfection! Milne Mind-Meld!, November 14, 2007
This review is from: Winnie The Pooh And Some Bees (Book And CD Set) (Audio CD)
I am a Winnie-the-Pooh fanatic and made sure to raise two little boys who are as fond of Pooh as I. We have (and love) Disney's original Milne-based cartoons, but my boys grew out of those by the time they were 4 or 5. Our wonderful Peter Dennis tapes, however, are family favorites that my now 9 and 12 year old fellas still request on a regular basis. We loves these unabridged tapes and WE ADORE THIS ACTOR. To me, he is the true voice of A.A. Milne. Each of this amazingly accomplished actor's character voices is absolutely spot-on (and we adore Piglet's cute snorts). He seems to have mind-melded with Milne! In fact, we purchased a tape that had Tigger on it after we had already listened many times to our sans-Tigger tapes, and we all waited with bated breath to hear how Peter Dennis would do Tigger. As soon as we heard Tigger's first lines, we all said, "Of course that's how Tigger would sound!!!" If you love Pooh, Peter Dennis is a MUST.

It's not Disney...that is for sure! This is the REAL pooh!, July 30, 2002
This review is from: Winnie The Pooh And Some Bees (Book And CD Set) (Audio CD)
This is not a Disney done album. Which for some that may turn you away, and for others it may interest you greater. As an adult I really enjoyed listening to these (I have them on tape) tapes. The narrator is really pretty good. Although if accustomed to Disney's pooh, you will be taken aback at first by the sound of Pooh's voice done by the narrator. It is slow and low and not at all the friendly cute Disney voice. But, you soon get over this and enjoy the actual stories written by A.A. Milne, and not abridged by the likes of Disney.
My four year old son enjoys listening to these, and doesn't seem to care that the stories are not the same as his classic Disney Pooh movies. I just told him that these are the REAL Pooh Stories like in the books that we have.
I think the child that you buy these for may have to be 4 and above to really get anything out of them. It takes some listening skills and isn't quite as flashy as other read-along stories done by Disney.
One complaint that I have is the narrators voice version of Piglet, it is so strange to hear him snort in between each sentence that it gets a little annoying. He actually has a little piggy snort that he does...and I didn't care for that :(.
But if you enjoy the classic A.A. Milne books, and his writing style and the neat little innocent stories of Christopher Robin and his pal Winnie ther Pooh, you will enjoy it read to you on these well done albums and read along books.
