With "Valentine's Day" just around the corner, "Winnie the Pooh - A Valentine For You: Special Edition" is a re-release of the previous 2004 DVD "Winnie the Pooh - Un-Valentine's Day/A Valentine for You" but this time around, new to DVD comes the episode "My Hero" from the animated TV series "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" and Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Piglet Valentines day cards (six total). Also, this new 2010 release does not include the bad menu selection and introduction to the episodes that many were dissatisfied with in the 2004 release.

The first episode "A Valentine For You" (duration: 22:06) was a Valentine's Day special from 1999. In the 100 Acre Wood, Winnie the Pooh and his friends watch Christopher Robbin writing a Valentine's Day letter to a girl. When owl tells them that he is love sick and has the love bug, Winne the Pooh and friends misinterpret owl's explanation as if Christopher is sick and now they feel that they must help him through his illness.

The second episode is "Un-Valentine's Day" & "Three Piglets" (total duration for both episodes is: 27:30) which was aired on the animated TV show "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh". In this episode, Winnie the Pooh and the gang talk about Valentine's Day and how they have been inundated with Valentine's Day cards. Winnie the Pooh is known for giving his friends too many cards and the collection of cards is becoming a nuisance, so the only thing that Rabbit can do is to cancel Valentine's Day. But when Winnie the Pooh receives a Valentine's Day gift of honey, he feels that one of his friends sent it to him and this chain of events leads to others celebrating Valentine's Day in secret.

Don't get me wrong, all the feature programs and bonuses are great, since I've been a Pooh fan all my life. But this 2010 re-release of the 2004 Pooh Valentine DVD marks the end of 3 eras for Disney AND Pooh. By which I mean this disc contains a commercial for a supposed 2010 re-release of Winnie the Pooh: FrankenPooh/Spookable Pooh (with Boo! To You Too, Winnie the Pooh, in its original 1996 Fullscreen presentation), that never happened to this day, and it was the last-known commercial (to me at least) to be narrated by Disney's legendary announcer guy, Mark Elliot, who's all-too-familiar voice has been in hundreds, if not thousands, of commercials for MANY companies, mostly Disney's commercials from the 1980's to 2010 with this DVD, thus making it Disney's last DVD to have Pooh's classic TV shows or specials in it. Lord knows what became of the legendary Mark Elliot. But I digress, A Valentine For You marks the end of another era in Pooh's legacy, with it being Paul Winchell's final time voicing Tigger before he retired in the late 90's; luckily another toon guru, Jim Cummings, who voiced Pooh from the late 80's to the present, also knew how to speak for Tigger, also playing him to this day. Despite being the end of 3 eras total, A Valentine For You, Un-Valentine's Day, Three Little Piglets, and My Hero deserve to be on DVD, like this one, as does all of Pooh's TV shows in general, now more than ever.Read more ›

It seems that the advertisements at the beginning of the video are longer than the movie itself! You have to like the story, as cheesy and silly as it is, as it is Pooh. However, for a story that lasts only about 20 minutes, it seems silly to pay such a price. It is enjoyable but may not be worth the buy.

This video is long on sappy and short on time. Pooh and his friends struggle to let Christopher Robin grow up when they discover he is writing a valentine to a GIRL! Will Christopher Robin still love Pooh and his friends? You'll have the answer in about 15 minutes.

Adorable! What is not to love about Winnie the Pooh and friends? When my twins discovered this video in the mailbox they could not wait to get home and watch it.

It was a perfect afternoon, after school treat and the three of us enjoyed it immensely. With the lovable Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and gang it was a hit from the very beginning.

Our favorite stories was A Valentine for You in which Pooh and the gang become a tad bit jealous that Christopher Robin has created a Valentine for someone other then Pooh or his friends. A young girl named Winifred will be the recipient of this beautiful Valentine. Pooh and the gang don't quite get what a "Wini" is if it is something other then Winnie the Pooh so they are very troubled by this whole shenanigan. ..especially when they realize that Christopher Robin has been "smitten". As always the gang tumbles one after the the other trying to catch the "smitten" in order to help Christopher Robin.

Winnie The Pooh: A Valentine For You "Special Edition" is a delight to watch and enjoy with your kids. The twins could not help but giggle through the entire video. It put a smile on their faces and a joy in my heart. Valentines Day is right around the corner. This would be a great gift to give your little ones...plus each box comes with a set of Valentine Cards!
