Product Description

Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with Winnie the Pooh. Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical "bear of very little brain" and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo...and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. Coming together on the soundtrack, He's a bear of very little brain. She's half of the indie folk band She & Him. Actress/Musician/Singer/Songwriter Zooey Deschanel (Almost Famous, (500) Days of Summer) joins Winnie the Pooh and all of his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood, performing three songs for the film, including her own take on the classic "Winnie the Pooh" theme song, "A Very Important Thing to Do" and the original end-credit song "So Long," which was written by Deschanel and performed with She & Him bandmate M. Ward. Among the songs Deschanel performed for the film is "A Very Important Thing to Do"--a song that helps illustrate the contest the friends from the Hundred Acre Wood take on to find Eeyore a new tail. She also lent her voice to "Everything is Honey" and "Pooh's Finale," joining Jim Cummings (the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger), Tony Award®-winning songwriter Robert Lopez ("Avenue Q") and other cast members.

From the Artist

"This has been one of the most fun experiences I've ever had," says Deschanel. "And I've just been thanking my lucky stars that I was able to work on this movie, because it's delightful. I'm a big fan of Winnie the Pooh and all his friends. It's really hard to pick a favorite: Winnie the Pooh is so special, he loves honey and he's just cool. Eeyore is amazing, I love Eeyore. And Piglet is so small. It's really a four-way tie between Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger."

We were excited to find this Soundtrack after seeing Disney's "Winnie the Pooh" movie in the theater. My daughter and I are both very happy with the soundtrack. The songs are simple and sweet, very pleasant to listen to- not annoying like many children's songs can be.

The new songs (except for one by Zooey Deschanel) were written by the same people who did Finding Nemo: The Musical (which can be seen at Disney's Animal Kingdom). They must have been creating their homage to the Sherman brothers because the music fits perfectly into the Winnie the Pooh canon. The songs sound great to our current ears but would have been equally great appearing in the original short films back in the '60s. The Zooey Deschanel song (So Long) is also a delight. Even though she sings it extremely well, we older folk can imagine that if this song had been around 50 years ago it would have been recorded by Annette. This is just a delightful CD for both young and old - especially if you liked the film.

This is the first feature-length movie that my son ever watched and he couldn't get enough of it. He loves the music, and the soundtrack is very listenable for adults. I love the Zooey Deschanel songs and the character songs, and the score is really nice too. I like how the songs are the first half of the album and the score is all at the end. It's a relaxing car CD.

We bought this for my 2.5 year who is obsessed with anything winnie the pooh. He had gotten the movie as a christmas gifts and would sing along with the songs over and over so he loves this cd. I would have given it five stars but the second half of the cd is just repeating the first half without the vocals.

Zooey Deschanel sings the Winnie the Pooh theme song, and that's enough to make it worth your money. The fact that the rest of the songs are great is just icing on the cake!

Winnie The Pooh is one of the most treasured children's fables of all time. It's something I grew up on and am extremely fond of. I was excited to see Disney revisiting the world of Winnie The Pooh and keeping it as traditional as they could. While the biggest draw to the album may be Zooey Deschanel's involvement to me it's Henry Jackman. Henry Jackman has slowly become more notable in the film composing world. While Jackman may be best known for his work with Hans Zimmer he is also a great talent with a unique voice. Recently Henry Jackman did the scores to Monsters Vs. Aliens, Kick-Ass, Gulliver's Travels and Henry IV. He is also scoring the upcoming X-Men: First Class.

I'll touch on the songs briefly here but my focus is the score. The songs are actually quite nice when worked into the soundscape of the story. The performances are spot on and I never felt they were childish. They actually lead quite nicely to Jackman's score which makes up the second half of the album. Jackman is a wonderful orchestral composer and while he knows how to work the synth, here he lets the orchestra flourish. The score is light and fluffy without being to saccharine. It has its fair share of "mickey mousing" but there are plenty of character based textures. Certain melodies anchor the score. The music has a distinct flavor and the instrumentation helps it feel like Winnie The Pooh. Jackman handles the score with perfection and the execution is flawless. This was a pure delight to experience.

When it comes to scores to children's films I feel like composers can get the tendency to score a movie in a cartoonish way. This is not the case here as Henry Jackman proves he can make a warm and delightful score without ever making the score feel animated and cartoony.

Love the album, as soon as it played in the car, my toddler says, "Winnie the pooh!" And began singing along. I love it, but know that the first 6 or 7 tracks are songs and the rest is all instrumental.

Excellent... Children love it. Would recommend to others for play time, sleep time and just riding in the car time.
