Both of these albums by themselves are excellent. The 1st album "Winning" showcases the hit that Santana had with the title song, and Russ's version is most excellent, making many people womder why his own wasn't also a hit. Another hit for Ritchie Blackmore's 'Rainbow' as well as Head East from the US is "Since You Been Gone" again delivered with the style and talent this great artist possesses. "Cuckoo" is also a great dong, that the Bay City Rollers had with it.See a pattern here? It goes on with the Barnett Dogs, "On The Rebound a great song which was a minor hit for Russ is here, along with "Riding With The Angels". You can't go wrong here if you are a fan of true quality in rock music.

Sounds over the top, doesn't it? Well, when I was 18 I lived in my car and Russ's music is what got me through it. Seriously.

Two Great Russ Ballard Albums On One CD,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Winning/Barnet Dogs (Audio CD)
This CD features two great albums by Russ Ballard on one CD. The songs are all great, but the highlights include his only solo U.S. chart single, "On The Rebound", and the original version of the Santana hit, "Winning." The second half of the CD, originally released as the follow-up to the stunning AT THE THIRD STROKE, includes "Rebound", whereas "Winning" is the first half's title track. It's great that Renaissance Records has released these two albums together, as they both provide intelligent, well-played, yet soulful rock in an era when most artists are content to revel in young adult angst.
