5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Your Usual Diet Book, April 17, 2007
This review is from: Winning the Battle of the Bulge: It's Not Just about the Weight (Paperback)
This book by Mary Murphy doesn't just try to change the behavior alone of a person in need of weight control. It goes right to the very heart of the problem ... the reader's heart. The battle starts in the heart and is won in the heart by applying the Word of God to the battle.

If you have tried to take off pounds before and failed, get this book and open your Bible and study how God can change your heart that will then change your habits and attitudes and desires. You will be the winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Battle all right, August 1, 2006
This review is from: Winning the Battle of the Bulge: It's Not Just about the Weight (Paperback)
I am digesting the concepts of diligence and honesty. I feel Mary's perspective on these key issue's will help me to be honest about my own weight issues. Mary writes with such knowledge of the different battles, uses great illustrations through parenting, and humor, which I enjoy the most. It's a great read, and through God's help, these concepts will benefit you in areas beyond weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars It REALLY is NOT just about the weight., July 25, 2006

This review is from: Winning the Battle of the Bulge: It's Not Just about the Weight (Paperback)
It's impressive how many different areas of a persons life this book covers other than just weight. I got this book from Mary, my pastors wife, because I was intrigued by the fact that a person I knew had authored a book, and about such a popular subject... weight. I myself don't necessarily have a weight problem, but the book is still a challenge to me, because the concept of the book isn't about what foods to eat or not eat to lose weight, it's all about character building, such as: discipline and diligence. And through building these traits you can learn to controll your eating habits and learn to eat sensibly and yes, in many cases this does mean eating less and eating healthier foods. But through the character you build while reading and applying this book to your life, you will find yourself applying it to other areas besides just your weight. Perhaps you need discipline in another area of your life, this book challenges you to be more disciplined. "It's Not just about the weight!" If you read this book you will undoubtedly apply it, as I have said, to more areas than just weight. So yes, I thoroughly recommend this book if you are looking to lose weight or even change your lifestyle.
