I have played blackjack in casinos for many years and over the years have read many books about the game. Books that tout some "secret" or new way to beat the casino abound, but with rules now in place virtually everywhere, none of this so-called secret or new way to play is relevant or useful. The author is reputed to be a skilled player who wins (or has won) a lot. That may or may not be true, but there is no way to check it with objective facts. Because of the claim that the book is updated to meet current casino conditions, I bought it and was totally disappointed. A large portion of the "updated" book is merely a rehash of the 1993 version which is obsolete. In my opinion the "new" part is totally worthless and furthermore, I think that the same information can be obtained free at most casinos, who are very happy to have more customers at the tables armed with the so-called rules of basic blackjack. Next to slots, blackjack is reported to be the most popular casino game. Perhaps its popularity is the reason casinos just about everywhere have changed the rules to tilt the odds much more in favor of the house and of course against the player. The ones I hate the most are: 6-5 payoff for a natural blackjack instead of 3-2, and the dealer must hit a soft 17. These two changes alone go a long way to paying for the newest and most expensive casinos on the Las Vegas strip, and elsewhere too. It is next to impossible to find a reasonable one deck game (usually $100 minimum and dealing about half before shuffle) and two deck games are usually $50 minimum or more during peak playing times. The shoe games usually have six decks, but they only deal slightly over half of the cards before a new shoe is started, always these days from a shuffle machine. Read more ›

i know how to play blackjack. Since I am going to a casino for the first time snce 2004...I thought I would brush up on some of the split scenarios for shoe play. This book didn't even have the basic play of blackjack down correctly. I strongly advise that anyone who really wants to learn how to play blackjack buy another book. This one is not only not helpful, it is has incorrect informationn in it.

Really Dissappointed. Really Basic book. Deceiving title on the cover of the book! You will regret purchasing this book. Only explains the rules of the game which then shows which bets you can place.
