5.0 out of 5 stars A throughly entertaining and meaningful book
As a long time Notre Dame fan and Lou Holtz supporter, I jumped at the chance to read his book. It had a message to send and I think that it did that very well. It didn't do it in just any way however. He used examples from previous experiences both on and off the field to send his message in a much more understandable and entertaining way. This book lived up to all...

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read on methods for success in life.
The book by Lou Holtz was certainly inspiring, especially for anyone who loves Notre Dame football. Frankly, I was disappointed that a book devoted to the pursuit of excellence was obviously not proof read. Harper Collins Publishers seemed too anxious to crank this book out,as a result, there are many errors that even a casual Notre Dame follower would notice...

This book lived up to all of the expectations that I had for it and even surprised me with its humor. Holtz brings his past experinces back to life in a hilarious way throughout the book. He also includes comments on issues that I totally agree with. For anyone looking for motivation, sucess, or just a good laugh, this book is a must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, June 13, 2000
This review is from: Winning Every Day (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book. It belongs right next to Harvey Mackay's and Ken Blanchard's works. Great inspiration. However I gave it only 4 stars for ... you guessed it ... gramar. When you write a good book, make sure you read it before it goes to print.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one you just can't put down!!, January 26, 1999

I am a guy who doesn't read as much as I should but I couldn't put this book down. His stories are very motivating and delightful. I have begun to use the Coaches ideas in my professional and personal life. I have established a WIN attitude and I can't stop writing goals for myself. Thank You Coach for your words and enlightening approach to life. I am a big fan of Notre Dame and you but I guess I'll have to stock up on my Gamecocks gear now ! Good Luck and God Bless Lou Holtz and his family.

5.0 out of 5 stars winning every day, February 20, 2004

Online Review

Lou Holtz has written a motivational book based on his coaching experiences. He has taken the lessons he has learned coaching athletes and applied them to everyday living. Coach Holtz will show you how to apply his ten rules for living to your life. He will show you how to become a winner and lead a successful life. I found Winning Every Day to be an interesting book. I believe I can apply his rules to my own life to be a better person. The examples he uses to make a point are interesting. Some examples are funny, some are sad. This is a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than Motivation--a Guide for How-To-Succeed, August 2, 2011
This review is from: Winning Every Day (Hardcover)
Lou Holtz boils his life's wisdom down to ten teachable steps:

1. Power of Attitude
2. Tackle Adversity
3. Have a Sense of Purpose
4. Make Sacrifice Your Ally
5. Adapt or Die
6. Chase Your Dreams
7. Nurture Your Self-Image
8. Foster Trust with Others
9. Commit to Excellence
10. Handle Others with Care

Each of these steps become a chapter of his book, which he illustrates by lessons from life and the gridiron. Holtz's language is conversational, even parental. This tone, however, also underlies a steely determination and intensity. I try to read this book at least once per year, and it is for me the single most beneficial self-help book I have ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch life and success manual, March 3, 2004
This review is from: Winning Every Day (Hardcover)
Wonderful, realistic lessons about life and winning. Several memorable and hilarious jokes, a lot of valuable advice. Two jokes come immediately to mind--the one about Holtz's non-request upon leaving Notre Dame, and the one about the fire truck with bad brakes. There are many others. This book really speaks to people where they are, and because it is modern, is probably more valuable than some of the classics like Think and Grow Rich, etc. Besides, coaches just have a special way of telling it like it is. A winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous, Inspirational, and Motivating, April 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Winning Every Day (Hardcover)
This is a great book. I wish I could have read it without ever having had to put it down; it is captivating. This man is much deeper and introspective than I thought when I saw his grim face on the sidelines. He is actually quite a comedian too! As a Michigan alum, he was a tremendous adversary. Nevertheless, who couldn't have respect for what he has accomplished? After reading his book, I now have even greater respect for Lou Holtz. The book has 11 chapters. I have little doubt that Chapter 12 will be represented by an SEC and a National Championship by the University of South Carolina Gamecocks!!!! Go Lou!

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspirational, happy, easy read, March 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Winning Every Day (Hardcover)
Gone from Notre Dame now, Lou Holtz remains one of my favorite people of all time. His priorities are straight; Faith, Family, and Career. His book, "Winning Every Day," reads as if he was talking to you across the room. It's filled with all his favorite stories of growing into the person he is today. Lou gives us his "can't miss" formula to success. One of my goals (I have written out) is to meet him and shake his hand. I WILL do that someday.
