Complete and total waste of money if you can read, November 4, 2009
This review is from: Winning Methods of the Market Wizards (DVD)
Despite not generally favoring the DVD medium, I ordered this DVD because I am a big fan of Jack Schwager and it appeared from the description to be NEW MATERIAL that went beyond what is in Jack's two "Market Wizards" interview books. That's not the case. There isn't one iota of useful information in this DVD that isn't in the Market Wizards books.
Don't get me wrong - Jack is a fantastic speaker and writer. If you are the type of person who prefers DVDs because you lack the discipline or intellect to read books, by all means this is an excellent choice, even if you probably have no business trading financial markets. But if you can and do read books, this video is a complete waste of time and money.
If you want Jack's insights, buy all his books. They are categorically excellent. This DVD is just a recording of Jack speaking at a conference, and everything he says is just a condensed/shortened version of what's already in the books. In fairness Jack also tells a few jokes, but that's the only unique content beyond what's in the books.
The DVD box has a big advertisement on the front cover directing you to a web site to "Download the free video charts and support materials" that go with the DVD. This same web site is again advertised in the "trailers" that take up the first five minutes of the video. This is a complete scam. The website solicits your contact information (they require everything including a phone number), then you get to the coveted "download page" where you get an error message saying there are no download materials associated with this video! How curious that this minor fact was overlooked when they put all the advertising on the front cover and in the video itself.
Bottom line: Forget the DVD and save your money for Jack's books. They are outstanding.
