Product Description

Amazon.com

You're cruising along at 100 mph, bolstered by an extra tank of gas, when suddenly your opponent cuts you off with a flat-tire card. You slam to a halt, sidelined until you draw a spare tire. It's a 1,000-mile race along an imaginary road; your goal is to arrive first, avoiding the hazards--flat tires, accidents, empty gas tanks--while inflicting them on your opponents and collecting the spares and repairs that will speed you on. The oddly absorbing Mille Bornes (French for 1,000 milestones and pronounced "meel born") has easy-to-follow rules of the road: green means go; red means stop; obey the speed limit at all times. You might even pick up a few words in French. Nostalgics beware: Anyone who owned an earlier version of the game will miss the acid-green plastic cardholder and the oversize cards. Mille Bornes is for two to six players.

I wanted to buy my grown nephew and myself sets as we played the original version when he was little. The new set is very durable, the cards are thick. Yes, it does have the French translation on the cards, which I liked about the old version. The pictures are still really fun, even though they aren't the original ones you might have played with. I read other reviews that the Collectors' Edition is sort of flimsy and wouldn't last (the cards and the card holder in the shape of the car) So I bought the new version and am very pleased.

I'm in my 50s and I've been playing this fun card game since I was just a kid. It's great fun, and now my own kids are fans of the game as well. It's a card game in which you are traveling in a auto race across county. The object is to lay down distance cards to total 1000 miles before your opponents. However, along the way, your opponents may try to slow you down by giving you a "speed limit" card or try to stop you with hazard cards such as a "flat tire", "out of gas", or "accident", and you must get the proper remedy card to resume play. It's a fast moving game with a minor amount of strategy. It's anyone's game to win right up to the end. A real classic that your family will enjoy for years to come, like mine!

When my husband and I were in high school we used to have Mille Bornes card parties with our friends. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the fact that it was a game that was like no other. This would make a great gift also because there are no worries about whether they already have one because chances are they don't. Most people have never heard of it. I look forward to playing it again with my own children. It is a game that adults can enjoy with children.

I would rather watch paint dry than play cards, but found this game very interesting and a lot of fun. It's easy to learn, as each player has a "reference" card in front of them throughout the match. Forming teams to play Mille Bornes increases the competition and intensity of the game. I liked it so much, I bought the game for my daughter and her family.

Since my purchase I have found an original set of the game, complete with dual language printed instruction booklet, green melmac card tray, and original card design but I am not any less happy to have this version either. The game is the same, the graphics are more updated. The package is simpler and cheaper (price, not quality). My other purchase was a little expensive (but worth it to me) and was certainly a rare find; I do not expect to be that lucky again.

Thi is a fun game. It has been updated a few times since its conception and the 2007 version is the easiest to read and play. Be careful when purchasing that you are the version you want.

This is a game we played with our children and spent many hours laughing and bonding. It is different, fun, and very portable. I sent each son one this year with their Christmas goodies and got to see the oldest, now an adult, glow with recognition and exclaim over the surprise. I imagine his wife will have to learn to love it as well! Very happy to know it is still out there. Supplier was quick, efficient, and product arrived as expected in ample time. Experience was superb all around!!!

The girls got together last night and our host brought out the game. We learned it in five minutes and played until 2am and had a blast. I like this game because of the short learning curve (our host also made an awesome cheat sheet copied from the guide) and because we were able to talk, carrying on good conversations, while still playing a game. It was great fun! Thanks, J!!
