5.0 out of 5 stars Very worth the purchase
I wanted to buy my grown nephew and myself sets as we played the original version when he was little. The new set is very durable, the cards are thick. Yes, it does have the French translation on the cards, which I liked about the old version. The pictures are still really fun, even though they aren't the original ones you might have played with. I read other reviews...

3.0 out of 5 stars card game
I did receive this in a timely manner, but I thought I was getting a card tray with the card game. The original versions which I had bought many of years ago always had a card tray included. I was a little disappointed. The game itself is lots of fun and timeless.

Yes, it does have the French translation on the cards, which I liked about the old version. The pictures are still really fun, even though they aren't the original ones you might have played with. I read other reviews that the Collectors' Edition is sort of flimsy and wouldn't last (the cards and the card holder in the shape of the car) So I bought the new version and am very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Family Card Game, August 24, 2007

I'm in my 50s and I've been playing this fun card game since I was just a kid. It's great fun, and now my own kids are fans of the game as well. It's a card game in which you are traveling in a auto race across county. The object is to lay down distance cards to total 1000 miles before your opponents. However, along the way, your opponents may try to slow you down by giving you a "speed limit" card or try to stop you with hazard cards such as a "flat tire", "out of gas", or "accident", and you must get the proper remedy card to resume play. It's a fast moving game with a minor amount of strategy. It's anyone's game to win right up to the end. A real classic that your family will enjoy for years to come, like mine!

When my husband and I were in high school we used to have Mille Bornes card parties with our friends. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the fact that it was a game that was like no other. This would make a great gift also because there are no worries about whether they already have one because chances are they don't. Most people have never heard of it. I look forward to playing it again with my own children. It is a game that adults can enjoy with children.

My seven year old daughter and I love playing Mille Bornes. It's a great tool for honing addition basics. She very quickly picked up the concept that to win is not to stop the other player at every turn, but strategically use your cards to get ahead.

Proably my fault for not reading the fine print. I thought this game came with the card tray. it is just a deck of cards with instructions. good for replacements but difficult to use for a starter set. I bought it as a gift for my sisters kids. I have several sets of my own.

I bought this game because our original one was about 44 years old & finally
needed replacing. We have played it countless times, first with our kids and
now with their kids. Most kids love it because it involves a trip by car in
France & the player can put obstacles on the other players. To be able to
defeat an adult is great fun for them. It teaches strategy in when to play
important cards & who to give the obstacle cards to. Adults also like this
game. Our son & his wife took it to an adult church retreat & they had fun
playing this. One thing I will say, it's more fun with 3 or 4 than with 2.

I played this card game so many times growing up! It was so much fun and easy to play. It is quite easy to play so almost anyone can play. Just be the first to get to 1000 and you win! How hard is that? It fun trying to stop others with accident, flat tires ect. It is just so much fun.

Thi is a fun game. It has been updated a few times since its conception and the 2007 version is the easiest to read and play. Be careful when purchasing that you are the version you want.

This is a great game to play. Not sure how educational it is but it would help with teaching children how to add large numbers (you need to add and keep track of your "miles" in the game in increments of 25, 50, 75, 100, 200). The quality of this deck is nice, colors bright, and good graphics. Much nicer than the 50 year old deck I used to have that was all in French. The reviewer added pictures might be a little confusing to potential buyers. Advertised version is NOT what reviewers pictures are (this is an older version with a green card holder). This version does not come with a card holder and tally paper. The amazon added picture of the deck of cards with nice graphics is what you will get. It includes the cards and instructions in a box just as amazon's picture shows (no card holder or tally paper included).
