Pente the smart game that's easy to learn,

Pente is one of those games that you love to play over and over again because the better you get, the harder the game is. It teaches kids (of all ages) strategy and creative problem solving while giving you a chance to crush your opponent. :) There's even a players federation (www.playpente.com) that has been started to help foster online and offline play in tournaments and clubs. Pente is not as complex as chess to learn (each piece does essentially the same thing in Pente as opposed to different behaviors for different pieces in chess) which makes it an excellent entry game for kids. Adults enjoy it because it's fast-paced enough to not drag on all night but not so fast you can't have a good glass of wine and a conversation with your opponent. All in all, Pente is one of the finest games around and would have stuck around longer in the 80s had it not been for the boom of Trivial Pursuit. It's a bargain at twice the price!

I began playing Pente in 1980, and have had the same set for the last 26 years. Pente is brilliantly simple, and simply brilliant. I have always loved the fact that you can teach someone how to play in about 10 minutes, and as their skill progresses the game gets more difficult without changing or increasing in complexity. It engages both tactical and strategic thought processes, but still retains its fundamental simplicity. I would love to see it actively marketed on a national scale again. I believe that the younger generation(s) would benefit from it greatly. Gary Gabrel, you've got my respect and admiration, and have for over 20 years! Bravo!!!

Pente provides an opportunity to expand ones knowledge of strategy while remaining fun and full of challenge. Although the version offered to purchase is for two players, you can play with multiple people as pairs or if you purchase additional colored stones each person can play individually. it's a hoot when you get seven people playing together. Of course the rules change slightly. basically to capture a pair of stones in the two player game they need to be of the same color. however if you have more then two players a capture can be of two different colors. The more players the more the challenge. over all I'm exceedingly happy with my purchase i just wish they also provided the option of purchasing more stones of different colors.

Easy and quick to learn the rules. It is simple yet challenging as you learn the strategy. We've had this game in the family for years. It's been a favorite for a rainy day. Children ages 8 and up can easily play and adults are challenged as well. Highly recommend it and so glad to see it available again.

This is a great pure strategy game for kids and adults. It combines strategy and a fast pace. Games last from 1 to 10 minutes (tops). The pace makes it excited. As more pieces are placed, more opportunities arise. It doesn't take long to learn how to play and you don't need to study anything like chess openings to get better. I bought this to play with my kids (ages 10 to 16). They love it.

Pente is probably the best strategy game next to chess. Very easy to learn, but takes a lot of practice to master. A great game for the entire family, and a great road-trip game.

Pente is fun if you're 6 years old. Pente is fun if you're 36 years old. Call some friends, pour some drinks and play Pente until you're hungover. Enjoy!

A Facinating Game for All Ages,

I've been playing this easy-to-learn board game (on the same set) since my boys were old enough to learn (around 8 years old). My older "boy" is now 30 + we play just about every time he visits-- especially if his younger brother is around. Then we have mini-tournaments, some featuring Pente trash-talking! The longer one plays the more facinating the game becomes.

If you want a quick-paced game in which you will have to think, you will enjoy Pente. Get five in a row or capture five of your opponents pieces. Then play again. Has some similarities to Go.

This is a great game for 2 people. It is a game of strategy. Seemingly very simple, but the more you play, the more difficult it gets. Very easy to learn.
