I remember playing this game as a child and enjoyed the fun. This new version of the game seems durable. I was dissappointed though as it is quite a bit smaller than the original version and has plastic marbles. There are not so many holes and not as many combinations. Still if you are looking for a game the is close to the original this is what they came up with...

2.0 out of 5 stars Travel size
I purchased this game for my grandson because I remembered how much I loved playing it myself as a child. I was disappointed when I received it and found out that it was more or less a travel sized version of the one I used to have. It's not pocket sized, but it is only about 8" square. It uses small plastic balls about 1/2" in diameter; not the real marbles that the...

It is still a good game and plays the same as it did years ago, but if I had known that it wasn't like the original, I wouldn't have paid the price for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Thought Provoking Game, August 3, 2011

I have the old game from a different manufacturer. I am assuming this game is probably rather small, about the size of Winning Moves' Roller Bowl and King of the Hill games (both fun). It is a lot of fun for adults and children. I think the small size would still be a lot of fun. The game is made of horizontal and vertical slats. These slats have occasional holes. You start by placing your marbles in the slats. Each turn you move one slat one notch. When holes in both slats line up, the marble falls through. I am rating it a five because it is one of my favorite family games. I don't play it for educational value, but it is educational for my niece and nephews. (The kids AND my sister like it.) You can't see where the underlying holes are exactly, but you can do some predicting. If one space away the vertical and horizontal slats both have holes, then I can anticipate how to move one of those slats to make an adjacent marble fall. I can plan ahead to protect my marbles. The educational value is in critical thinking, and critical thinking, not just memorization, is an important skill for life. But buy this game for the fun.

My brother and I used to play this game for hours on end "back in the day". I was so excited when I found it on Amazon. Unfortunately my brother is no longer with us, but I am looking forward to showing my children how much fun you can have without a computer, ipod, cell phone, etc. This game brings back some great memories!

The only drawback was that the game only came with about 7 marbles. It's susspose to have 20. But hey it is over 20 years old! I plan on purchasing some marbles at the local dollar store.

One of my friends had this game when I was a kid. It's a fun game. I got it for my kids and it's one of their favorites. Oddly, it's not a very easy game to find at the retail stores. The nice thing about that though is that it make a great gift to give to their friends (which we have done several times now) because their friends are not likely to have this one in their game closet already (yay).

I had this game as a child and my children have enjoyed playing it at my parents' house. My mother thought my kids would like to receive it for Christmas, so I ordered it for her. Based on the price, I thought it would be the full-sized version that my parents own. It definitely wasn't!! And I'm sure my kids will be disappointed that it's not the same size they're used to playing. It should be stated directly under the name of the game that it is, basically, a travel-sized version. There's no way a game this size should be this price!
