My two little girls, aged 4 and 7 played this game for hours. I checked it out and ended up playing for a long time too. It is a game of luck and the player in the lead can change at any time, giving all of the children the chance to feel like they're winning. Teaches good counting skills with the beds too. The game does not take long to play which keeps their attention level high. highly recommended!

I heard this was just awarded the Oppenheimer Gold Award so I knew it would be great for my granddaughter. I bought it and she just loves it. I can see why it's rated so high. Lots of bright colors to stimulate her brain, and easy to learn and play. I've recommended it to friends but wish it was available in the large chain stores so more of my friends could get one. It's a sure winner with us!

I was so excited to buy this game for my daughter. She loves everything "princess", and we love the story. This game seems as if it was created in two minutes - no real thought put into it at all. You spin the spinner to move up the spaces on the board. On each space, randomly, you may be asked to move up or back a space(s), maybe add a bed(s) to your piece or someone else's piece, until someone gets to the end (doesn't have to be exact count). Then, everyone counts up their beds, and the person with the tallest bed - wins. Mind-numbingly boring! I think what I hate most about this game, is all the reading. The girls that love princesses (3-4 yr olds) cannot read. My daughter spins the spinner, moves her piece, then stares at me, waiting for me to tell her what to do. Her friend does the same thing. They are so disconnected from the game. They'd rather just play with the beds, arranging them in patterns or making the princesses talk to eachother.

My five and eight year old girls love this game. It's one of the few they will play together, without an adult joining them. Although it's not truly educational, it's fun... and they love the competition to see which princess stacks up the most beds! Good for beginning readers, too.

The game pictuerd and the game I received were both The Princess and The Pea, however, the one shown on Amazon.com depicts hard plastic, more durable playing pieces that are mattresses with the princess on them. The other playing pieces (mattresses) are also made of the more durable hard plastic. The game that I just received has hard cardboard princess playing pieces that are placed into hard plastic stands, instead of the cuter more durable ones shown on Amazon.com. The mattresses that each girl collects are also made out of the cardboard instead of the more durable plastic. Even the game board is a little different. I am not sure I would have purchased this for my granddaughter had I known it was not the game that they actually depict on their web site. I purchased it thinking it would be a good "first board game" for her because of the larger more durable plastic mattresses and playing pieces. I am disappointed, as they don't have the picture updated on Amazon.com. On checking the winningwaysgames.com site, it is apparent that the picture is not updated to reflect the changes in the game.\

This game is a cute boardgame geared towards preschool age and early elementary school aged princesses. Boys need not play. They definitely won't want too with the Princess movers, princess references (the game really feeds into the princess craze!), and bright pink box. The game includes a game board, thick cardboard matresses (the real user pictures appear to have plastic beds, but this is not the case), 4 cardboard princess movers with little stands, and a spinner. Assembly is minimal. The object of the game is to get the most mattresses and become the true princess. The game requires some reading. My 5 year old reads, but my 3.5 year old does not. Both can play though with the reader helping the 3.5 year old. The concept is actually pretty simple, so children younger than the 5+ can play with reading assistance. The game is quick too, which is good for short attention spans.
The main flaw is the movers. They are one sided. All of the stands are purple and all of the backs are hot pink. In order to easily keep track of which mover is which, the movers must face the "wrong way," looking away from the goal rather than towards it. The movers should be double sided or the bases should be color coordinated with the movers to make it easier to locate the correct movers.

I disagree with the previous reviewer regarding this toys educational value. It teaches counting skills and is very good for the beginner reader. Also, the spinner helps with number recognition for the little ones.My kids have fun playing this game. It goes by quickly and is easy for them to play without help. They are age 6 and 4. My two year old loves to stack the beds together.

My granddaughter was in the hospital for 10 days and I felt this would
be a great game to help keep her amused on the long days until she could come home, it worked and she loves the game.

i have 2 little grand daughters --- just turning 5 and 7 --- they love this game...and play it with or without any older participants .... although they seem to like it best when three(3) or four (4) players are involved....it's adorable...buy it...you'll like it.

The product I received is slightly different than pictured. It does not have the stackable beds, instead it has princesses to move around and die-cut out beds to collect. A little disappointed. Thought my 4 year old daughter would enjoy stacking the beds but this will do.
