Scopa is a fun family card game. It's like an Italian version of Hi-Low Jack. The rules might seem a little confusing when you first read them but once you have played a couple of hands it seems pretty clear and understandable. Basically it's a trick-taking game where you are trying to capture the cards that will get you the most points at the end of the hand in a few key catagories. There is skill and strategy involved in choosing which cards to use and at what time. All ages can play from the kids to the grandparents and it is fun to shout "Scopa!" when you are lucky enough to clear all of the cards from the center of the table. The art work on the cards is nice and gives it that "old world Italian" feel. I also really like that they have put the point value in the corner of each card to make it quicker and easier to add up at the end of each hand. This is a great card game for kids to practice their math skills with the scorekeeping too. In short, a fun little card game that you can take anywhere!

My husband and I learned to play this Italian card game a few weeks ago at a "Meet Up" in Little Italy. It was soooo much fun, we decided to buy a deck and play at home. I love that this deck has ALL the cards numbered and even came with a Score Card pad. Lots of fun.

This card game only takes a few minutes to learn but it is fast paced and fun for a wide age range. I have played with adults and explained it to an elementary school kid who picked it up just as fast. There is actually some educational value to the game as it requires you to add in your head very quickly. A relaxing game to play while sitting by the pool. In addition, the cards are very sturdy and beautifully decorated. It gives the deck an authentic "Old World" Italian look.
