Water Works is a great game for the whole family. The object of Water Works is to lay down a series of pipe cards in order to create a leak-free pipeline before your opponent does the same. You can hinder your opponents' progress by sabotaging their pipes with leaks or caps, and you must fix any leaks they "spring" on you. It is not an extremely complex game, but it is a lot of fun. Although though the stated age recommendation is 8 to adult, my five-year old beat me with no problem the first time we played. This version comes with a bathtub-shaped discard tray and small metal wrenches you may use to fix leaky pipes. Much nicer than the version I remember as a child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great family game, February 7, 2007

An old favorite from when my kids were young - easily learned, but challenging as strategies must be developed. Plenty of stimulus for the agressive-minded who like to thwart their opponents. Fun for adults as well as children.

This set has the metal wrenches and the plastic discard tub we had in the set I grew up with. My mother, sister and I have all bought sets since finding this again and have gotten lots of friends and family hooked on the game. A maximum of four players can play at a time, but if we have more around the table, we'll just play in four teams. It's a good game for adults and kids to play together as, once they know the rules, it's an even competition.

A classic I played as a kid, glad to see it made again! Has been fun to play again.

A game where you try to complete the pipe with a certain number of cards, but sometimes you are given a leak by another player that you have to fix before you can go on.

Great fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars No wonder its a CLASSIC!, May 21, 2009

If I wouldn't have played it, I never would have believed how fun this game is. Both my step sons are addicted game console guys, so that when they come to stay with us its a real workout to get them to do anything but just that. This game is one that they will ask about playing and we can involve the whole family. They have been playing this since age 6 and even my older children, 21 and 24, like this game. It is challenging but not so much that it allows players of all ages to play it.

I highly recommend this game!

It's an okey game. Rules are pretty simple. Basically you try to mess up others water pipe systems, as they do yours. First to get like ten pipes in their system wins.

4.0 out of 5 stars Waterworks, ...more fun for grown-ups than kids, February 15, 2008
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

Waterworks will be the most fun for grown-ups who remember playing it as a kid. We played very competitively and actually ran out of cards before we finished the game. Kids can play because the rules are simple and they may enjoy springing leaks on the other players. The more leaks that you play, the longer the game is, as each player has to fix their leaks. If you play conservatively, the game can be over very quickly.

I remember loving this game as a kid, and so did my cousins. We sat down to play it as adults and were very frustrated with the poorly written instructions. It took us about 40 minutes to read and then interpret the rules of the game. After that, it was a fun and relatively quick game (good for people with short attention spans). This game requires a big table to play on. The directions of pipes on the cards challenge players to plan their pipe route. In order to win, there has to be a specific flow. Young children may find the spatial element of this game to be frustrating.
