This game is one of the few good two player games on the market. It's core mechanic is stratego-ish. Each player has one of the identical card decks and they take turns laying down cards face down on perches(marked spots on the board). If there is a conflict over one of the perches the higher card wins the spot.

Box - A+ - The box is made of very high quality materials and is not too big or small for the contents.
Board - A+ - The board is made of very high quality and I like the art work.
Cards - B+ - The cards are made of very high quality(some of the best I have seen), but they are a bit too small and the art work does not quite match the art feel of the board
Instructions - B - A few points were not covered as well as they should have been (jaguar vs jaguar/jaguar vs jaguar on tie perch)
Overall Fun - B+ - A must buy game

My granddaughter introduced me to this "kids" game and continues to beat me most of the time. I play a complex set of duplicate bridge conventions so it's not that I'm a slouch at mental games. I think this game helps kids learn mental chores and keeps us oldsters mentally alert. But it's also fun. Only problem I would have with the game is that only two can play it at a time; would be neat if a 4 person version were available. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Pecking Order for kids of all ages, even as old as me.

A good game is easy to learn with a lot of playing options. This game meets those conditions and can be fun too. Simply both players have the same deck but have no idea what card they will draw. Play becomes a combination of strategy, bluff and luck as you stake a claim to and/or defend a perch. Two perches are special. One allows you a look at your opponent's bird on one perch and the other wins ties. Add a double perch for extra points and you have some real considerations that can affect play.
A match is about ten minutes. A game is four matches. This means that no game is very long and you usually have a chance to recover from a disaster. There are not many two-player games on the market. This is easy to learn with multiple playing options and is fun.
