5.0 out of 5 stars Winning Right
"Winning Right" is a must read for anyone interested in politics and how to win elctions and win them in an honorable way. Both Ed Gillespie and his wife Cathy are very "savvy" and very "street smart". Ed is a very good writer and tells it like it is. Ed is a bright shining star in the Republican party. I highly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missed opportunity to write something decent about the Bush campaign.
I read a lot of books on American current affairs and Ed Gillespie's Winning Right is the worst so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am an Ed Gillespie guy ..., December 2, 2007

This review is from: Winning Right: Campaign Politics and Conservative Policies (Hardcover)
It is a delight to read books by people like Ed Gillespie, a man sharing his views and honest opinions on politics, and to know that it is not all bitter hatred out there. Politics is just a game for many people but it is clear that for Ed, it is about doing what it right for the future of our country. Ed Gillespie comes across as a real likable guy as he shares his 25 years in politics working for the Honorable Dick Armey, Governor, former Congressman Haley Barbour, AND Senator Elizabeth Dole. Mr Gillespie also shares the love his family has in their support of his life on the trail with his wife Cathy and 3 young children; all that thay have to show and their solid support while Ed while he spends so much time on the campaign trail. You will know who this man is and what he is all about. It is people like Ed Gillespie who make me proud to be on the right side. Ed in 2016, I am definitely an Ed Gillespie guy ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for political junkies of all stripes..., September 8, 2006

Gillespie's book is chock full of great anecdotes about the many elected officials and other characters he has worked with through the years. While some think political people are all anger and hard eges, this book shows that players in this business can be (indeed should be) decent and respectful of their opponents. Gillespie's policy prescriptions at the end of the book are sound, and some were new to me, and the section about his work in helping the recent Supreme Court nominees offered some interesting insider information.

This book is good fun, a quick and interesting read. I highly recommend it.

An interesting history of one mans ascent into politics. One of great loyalty, commitment and not to mention his impeccable values. The book is filled with inspiring stories along with humor that keeps you from wanting to put this one down. One of the most impressive political strategists we have today!

I read a lot of books on American current affairs and Ed Gillespie's Winning Right is the worst so far.

I knew when I bought the book that I was going to get a Republican account of the 2004 election and that's what I was looking forward to reading. Here was an opportunity to write an inside account of an important election from a man on the inside of the winning camp. But what I got fell far short of my expectation.

Gillespie is so hopelessly one sided he looses all perspective. Any opportunity to praise Bush is taken and any to fault Kerry are never missed. The result is a naieve, childish and often meandering account of not just the election but Gillespie's rise through the ranks of the republican party. I found it extraordinary that in such a great democracy a man so devoid of any respect for his political opponents could rise to a leading national position.

3.0 out of 5 stars Of course he is right!, September 19, 2006

Ed Gillespie is the man who is able to articulate the true message of the Newt Gingrich revolution: You are either right or wrong. And for Ed and the rest of the "Reagan is God" crowd, right means right wing, right religion, right thinking, and don't question the authorities. Anything else is wrong thinking. Get in line, and don't question the men of wisdom. And if you do, well, you are a communist or a "liberal" who does not deserve the benefits of the conservative revolution. Ed's "Contract on America" was a rousing failure, but that never shamed him enough to think much about it. Nothing to see there, just move along, OK?

Here in America, we all benefit from being able to speak our minds (no matter how small they might be) and while the First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees that right, there is plenty of republican babble out there, enough that after a while, the weak minded might actually not question anything out of the mouths and screens of faux news. Don't think for yourself, just trust the right-wing echo chamber.

If that is you, then Ed is your boy. Go get 'em! Heck, it's only $18 for adding it to your growing library of hard cover books.

You do read, right?
